Are you looking at the new face-lift model with CVVT or still the 2000(?)
model ?

South Korea and North America have had the new model out for months but
not sure how soon we will get it here. Checked with SA and they denied it
flatly.

IMO that should also be a factor in you decision. just my $0.02

Overall the power is there. You won't feel the car's weight although it is
heavy in specification. For the 1 year I've driven one, it hasn't
disappoint me. I like to drive fast but not like street racing type.

Fuel consumption is very consistent. On highway, ~0.08 l/km (RM70/650km).
In town/housing garden, ~0.13 l/km (RM70/400km). Mix 40%h/w, ~0.11 l/km
(RM70/460km). A lot of us are complaining on this. Next week will go
complain again.

It is a nice small family saloon car though.

The sales in KB also denied flatly about the face-lift version
availability but the posters are all over the service centre...funny
people. Somehow I feel that the face-lift doesn't look as nice especially
the front grill part.

ewombat,
thanks alot for sharing...

i think the fuel consumption is not that economical. i belive this is
typical korean car.
just curious where/how will you complain on this? and what/how can this
be improved.

maybe i will get a sentra them...

actually i like the face-lift version..looks more sporty. hopefully the
price will not exceed RM100K.

regards.

aiya 1.8 what u expect? as economical as a 1.5 meh? ... of course not mar.
Wait till u try driving a 2.0 honda accord ... watch the fuel meter drop!
scary.

U want to buy a 1.8 , be prepared to maintain it... dun expect 1.5 economy
out of it.

In my opinion the facelifted elantra ... ughs... ugly.... better stick to
the current design.

I was thinking of Sentra as well originally. But I went for Elantra,
instead, after considering the fact that it was more than $14,000
difference. FC is high for city driving, but excellent for H/W. Mine is
over 700km for a full tank, about 400-450km for city driving(I am a very
heavy footed driver). By the rate of my mileage usage, it will take me at
least 15 years to offset the cost difference if I were to buy the Sentra
with 100% city driving. Besides, the Elantra is much more spacious.
Hopefully, service provided by KB will give better second hand value.

About the new model, I think it will be 1.6 with CVVT. 1.8 will propably
be discontinued here in Malaysia due to the recent afta anouncement that
the 1.8 model falls under the increase in price category. Not too smart
to continue this model. Just my 2cts worth.
