The Perdana V6 engine, is it DOHC or SOHC ?
I hope they're referring to DOHC per bank of cylinders, otherwise they're
cheating.

PotenzaG3,
I tot the CVVT or VVT-i or the like are the Engine not gearbox. I tot
gearbox are on those tiptronic/shiftronic/sportronic stuffs? No?
The CVVT/VVT-i are all 20 years technology by the Europeans being adapted
only recently by Japanese and they make the hell out of noise...some ppl..

huh!
Let's take a normal 1.6l engine block in-line design with 4 cylinders and
4valve per cylinder (16valve altogether).
With SOHC, the engine has 1 camshaft that control open/close of all the 16
valves. It is cheaper to the manufacturer as using only 1 camshaft and
less complex to design. But not flexible in squeezing as much performance
or fuel-efficiency from the engine as you can only play with 1 camshaft.
With DOHC, the engine has 2 camshafts - 1 cam control the intake valves
and another 1 control the exhaust valves. Since 2 is more than 1, it is
more expensive for the manufacturer. But engine designers have flexibility
and more fun as they can play around with 2 camshaft profile whether for
performance or fuel efficiency or just for the sake of stamping DOHC on
top of the engine block...hehehe!
just type "DOHC" in Googles lah.

CVT is belt driven gearbox... CVT ---> Continuously Variable Transmission
dun believe?

VVTi is engine... actualy these type of engine is Variable Valve timing
engine, same like Honda`s Vtech engine

Perdana V6 engine is of DOHC type but with no variable valve timing. VTC
in Nissan vehicles like the X-trail refer to its variable valve timing.
Campro(Camshaft Profiling) is also a form of valve timing technology.

actually not european cars which pioneered the technology.
honda is pure copy cat and make hoo haa with their product and many people
mistaken that they are the pioneer .
VTEC technology is actually Alfa romeo technology for almost 20 years ,
that is why the old alfa is always a good runner ...
i-DSi technology is actually from alfa romeo too , it is named as twin
spark for alfa .
those pioneer which keep silent but copycat makes hoo haa with it .

Hey hey,
You seemed to know a bit about cars, I hope you are not driving a Waja
anymore, and if you do, I hope it's not an auto. I have never driven such
a lazy gearbox b4 - lousy torque converter so to speak. They may not have
communication b/w the electronics dept and the design - good response
from the gearbox electronics, but a lousy sluggish coupling device.
Maybe I should stick back to a manual with a single plate solid race
clutch I had on my Celica Turbo 4WD.
Thanks.

PotenzaG3,
U maybe right as these terms but the Japs are rather
confusing...anyway..Alfa is European...so, am I right or wrong? Anyway,
the 156 if I got the code right got the selespeed a problematic
gearbox..now solved oledi...so, I heard any selespeed prior to 2004 got
gearbox problem...
So, if CVT is on gearbox does CVVT is the same..? I dunno I am
asking...coz CVVT reads Continuous Variable Valve Timing?
