When the piston moves up in the engine, it compresses the mixture of fuel and air. This is called the compression stroke. So in an engine designed with a compression ratio of 10:1, the gas mixture will be compressed to 10 times its normal pressure. The power derived from a high compression ratio engine would be greater than a low compression engine.

So to answer your question :- 11:1 is higher compression than 10:1.
