I would like to know too!

I now know that there is 2 main versions. (1) N.A (2) Turbo.

I think N.A is less hasssle maintenance wise, but less fun. It should be
more practical than normal 2 doors because this one has extra 2.

Servicing, according to some ppl it is pricey because you need a specialist
- Rotary / Wankle engine. But I too, really would like to know maintenance
costs.

It should be a good laugh hopefully, you get 19x HP car, but only pay RM70
road tax (it is only 1,300 cc).

The one CBU from Japan is electronically limited to 180 km/h. One proud
owner complained to me that a Mini Cooper (new one) left him behind because
of this. He said c*l*k*.

drlax,

Cons:
1. this car is very high running cost by Malaysian standards.
Full tank = 60 litre = RM 115.2 = 320km approximately

2. eats oil, use mineral oil to reduce cost of maintenance

3. Tear-down and Rebuild at 130,000km cost RM 7,000

Pro:
1. Roadtax is RM70, maintenance for oil filter and oil change RM180
2. one of the best handling cars in its class, fun to drive
3. smoothest engine, even if compare with V6
4. No real maintenance necessary until re-build

Note: there is no turbo option. Please do not attempt to bolt on turbos
without rotary specialist assistance.

You will need to earn a nice salary to support all the fuel consumption.
Always try to get JDM model.

I am a rotary owner and to be honest, if you want a fun drive, reasonable
running cost / cost of ownership, get an ITR.

Other options in the lower power class with high agility are Mazda Mx-5
and MRS.

But if you can afford an RX8, you cant go wrong.

hey, we resent that!! hahaaha Big Smile

RX8 to alot of chaps (& females) is the sexiest *affordable* sports car/coupe in stock form from
manufacturer. while the Exige (eliseS2) to me is sexier, its just $$$$$

If u are planning to get a RX8, get the low mileage engine and make sure
you send the car to specialist for compression check.

This car has a low running cost relative to other performance car like
evo or impreza.

The recommended engine oil is mineral 30 weight or 40 weight. Around
rm100 per 4 liter, and you'll need extra 1 liter as a spare since this
engine consume oil.

The fuel consumption is relatively the same as the evo or the impreza as
well. Its in the region of 7-8km per liter.

Due to the engine is prone to carbon build up, its not that suitable to
use it as a daily drive in KL due to jams. This engine is sensitive to
heat and frequent stop-go condition will excellerate the carbon built up.

The pro side is, u get a 9000 rpm redline (manual) and the engine is so
smooth. How ever the torque is not much...so you won;t feel the punch
like other turbo charged performance car like golf gti, evo or impreza

If you want a more practical car, get the Golf GTI, now the are clearing
the 07 stock selling at rm183k. The DSG gear is superb and its a good all
round car....

Myvi 1.3(A) also RM65+ can go like 330-340km

so for a "performance" car like RX 8 to makan RM110 for 320km, i think it
is reasonable

i agree Golf GTI sld be more practical as a daily roundabout but the last
time i took BBA`s RX 8 for a drive... all the leng luis at the cafe all
stare k o k at me (dunno they stare at the car or stare at me coz leng
chai)

so... pay a bit more for fuel is worth the extra attention you get (esp if
you are an attention w hore) Big SmileThumbUp

but some ppl say RX 8 very nah pet car... i say fook them...
if i got money... i also wanna buy one...

uhm... my bad, should be more diplomatic but my meaning is about right.

RX8 is a class B 200+ HP car. MX5 and MRS are class C >200 HP. This in
no way means that they are lousier as its purely a preference issue.

And I prefer the Exige too.

glock,

the running cost is as bad as Evo and Scoobbie.

Fuel consumption is 6-7KM per litre.

For carbon build-up, ensure that the engine is allowed to reach operating
temperatures before shutting down. And yes, not very good to get stuck
in traffic.

And sort of agree on the Golf GTI.
