anyone know the market price for r33 skylines (gts25t - the single turbo
rb25det) in malaysia? there's an r32 for sale in the motortrader (rm 70k i
guess), but no r33.

can't help.....but didn't want you to feel lonelyBig Smile

i had a look at a couple of r34's and a r33 before coming to Malaysia a
couple of years ago and the r33 is the better one. at that time it cost
the equivalent of RM60,000 so assume time and tax then the current price
for a r33gts would probably be about RM80-90,000.

I tried my best to convert to Malaysia prices.

For info the r33gts was HKD120,000 so ~RM60,000 and that was back about 2
years ago when i changed my motor. A r34gts at that time was HKD180,000
so ~RM90,000. I had the choice between a cheaper r33 or a Subaru Impreza
STi5 for the same price as the r34 so i chose the STi5.

Like i say even if we double the car price taking into account taxes of
80%+10% then 2-years ago a r33 should have cost RM120,000.

In Hong Kong now a 1998 58,000kms skyline can be had for HKD88,000. I
know cause a friend has one for sale. This is equivalent to just RM43,000
and if we double that price we get back up to a supposed value of
RM86,000. I know it's a bit rough and doesn't take into account the local
market place properly but given the fact there is little servicing
assistance here then there is little reason to keep the prices heigher.
Anyway, based on the Motortrader one being for sale at RM70,000 i think
my maths is about right.

I have another HK friend selling a 1996 r33 with 78,000kms & 160ps for
just RM23,000. In fact he's the guy i got my STi5 from.

but the rm70k is for an r32.. i remembered last year an r33 in the
motortrader was going for rm180k. if what you're saying is right scooby,
ie. rm80-90k, i'm off to get me a skyline next week.. thanks for the info..
anyways, get them from japan whitenite.. my brother did his masters there
and he told me that the gts models are dirt cheap.. and that was last
year! didn't had the money back then:(
thanks guys

I very briefly checked about bringing my car from HK but as soon as i
learned about a 80+10% import tax, i sent it to the UK instead.

I would say that second-hand cars from Japan are probably cheaper than
from HK but it might be easier from HK just because of the language
issue. There are several traders in HK that are grey importing cars from
Japan so it would make sense they were cheaper in Japan.

With regards the RM180,000 for an r33 last year, i can't comment because
a lot would depend on whether it was standard or not. I know a lot of
Japanese guys (and locals" spend fortunes adding bits and changing bits
so it may not have been a standard gts. If it was then i would say it was
over priced but because there are so few here there is an added novalty
value. Given that i have seen one R44-GTR in KL.

Yes, I saw that on motor trader too in old release.

There's one S15 selling at RM70k below.
