i disagree on the comment old junk. sure its an old car, really old car but it has its place with the
enthusiast long-long before "initial D" came about.

there are those who restore really old timers (MG, triump, etc) & they are hailed as classics.

so whats wrong with restoring an AE86? too new, as in not aged enough?

there are those who wanna peddle old classics for 5-8 times the amount bought compared to the
year of production, so what gives? taking to account inflation & all.

so its matter of willing buyer, willing seller.

if RM40K++ is too much for a AE86; buy a MYVI. its cheaper to run & cheaper road tax. parts are
abundance still.

people will never understand car enthusiast, & they never will. it like trying to understand why
women pay $$$ cosmetics of shoes when they have another dozen not used. Big Smile

A T-shirt made in China costs RM 1-3. Put a brand on it and watch the
price increase i.e. Giordano = RM35, G2000 = RM70, Gucci = RM700

The AE86 has so much recognition and passion going for it, you have to
pay those prices to get it.

Honestly, I too would be wary to buy an old car. But I got a 20 years
old car anyway. The smiles are still there. You have got to try those
cars before saying they arent worth the money, time and trouble. You
gotta get your hands a little dirty with grease and dirt fixing things up
or get involved in the developments and tuning. Then you'd realise what
real passion is.

Because at the end of the day, if you just want a car that's cool and
fast, just get one of the new models. The new cars are safer, faster,
more powerful. 20 years old cars wont keep up without major updates in
technology.

Just a thought, you'd have to try really hard to get a front-rear double
wishbone car these days. Even the new Integras, Evo and such have
switched to multilinks for the rear.
