My father owns a 198x (not sure what year) Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2.0 :
Right now the car has been restored mildly but major works such as suspension, engine, steering and especially the brakes are neglected.
He plans to do a major restoration/ overhauling of this car sometime soon. The main things that he wants to restore/change include the engine, suspension, gearbox, and brakes.
My questions are therefore:
1) What kind of engine would be suitable if an engine transplant is done? (to be honest, he wants to keep it original, but current condition of engine is debatable- very loud but no power, and overheats rather easily)- on a sidenote- could a Mivec engine be used in this car ^^?
2) Say an engine transplant is done; does it also mean that a different transmission/gearbox is also used?
3) Any recommendations on what suspension brands and setup are good for this car?
4) Are there any good/ well-known shops that are known to restore these sort of cars?
and finally
5) Some work needs to be done for the interior of the car. Any recommendations on which shops are good?
Note: The car is located in Cheras, so any information on shops located nearby would be of great help.
Guess that's all I want to ask right now. Would really appreciate any information/ discussion on this matter.
Thanks to all in advance.
P.S. wanna say sorry for posting this here..i know this thread is for owner list only..but i cant find any other forums where classic alfa owners gather ^^
Tell your dad that City Motors in Bangsar, now called Alfa City willing to undertake such work. Many Alfa classics have been restored there, including Giuliettas. Not many workshops willing to undertake a restoration job.
