I was at Ace Hardware (Ikano) over the weekend to look for a cloth to
clean glass/windows and I had the MG Ultimate Wipe in mind. Previously I
bought this Leifheit Glass cloth which felt like rubber and was very
difficult to use. More elbow grease needed to use it and it left lots of
fibers on the windows. The package says "fluff free" - my ass! It was
crap to make it short.

Ok back to the story. When I was there, another guy was looking and
taking out the whole bunch of Ultimate Wipes from the hook. I thought,
wtf, is he gonna buy all and leave me with nothing? Anyway I think he
finally took 2 and put back the rest. In my mind I was going what was he
looking for? I couldnt figure it out as all the packaging looks exactly
the same. Then I noticed one of them didnt have the stitching at the
edges. And I think he was looking for these stitchless ones. So I decided
to take the last stitchless one as well.

Now Im thinking do I want to spend rm40 on a piece of cloth? And it could
very well turn out to be crappy just like the Leifheit. But I tell you,
today Im a happy man. After washing my car, I decided to use the Ulimate
Wipe to dry off my entire car and not just to clean the windows. I read
all over the packaging and it doesnt say anything about using it to dry
off or whether its absorbent or not. But what the heck, I use it just for
that and I was so amazed! I dried my car in no time and it didnt streak
or leave anything lint behind. Oh man! Finally a product that works! Btw
this cloth is pretty tough and thick unlike those frail looking thing
that seems like its gonna disintegrate after a few wring. Ok I better
stop before I sound too much like a commercial.

Any more success stories?

looks like you made a good buy. Wink

i have 3 generations of the `ultimate wipe` cloth. the current one
without the side stitching is far better than the previous. made the
rm40+ more worth it. wasnt so happie wid the earlier ones.

This is the first time Im using it so i wont know for sure but the cloth
looks pretty tough to withstand for quite a long time. But then again
your mileage may differ depends on what you use it for. Remember you can
also use it for wiping off wax and stuff like that.

not sure what are PVC chamois but i was using those artificial chamois
(those yellow color cloths) and I can tell you, this is a whole lot
better!

What I like about it is 3 things -

1. micro fiber - soft enough for your car
2. very good water absorbency
3. leaves no streaks, lint, fluff....behind

I notice when I wipe over the water with the artificial chamois, it still
leaves big beads of water on the surface but with the UW, much smaller
beads are left behind until gone.

Wah...so much praises after you try no good dun scold me har. I beginner
only and dunno a thing about detailing Shy

Hello DigitalKL,

Is it a type of micro fibre? I think there are many kinds of micro fibre which you can use for
many types of jobs. Some are good at buffing off the wax and polish and some are good at
drying the car off after you wash. Hove you tried this Ultimate Wipe for buffing off the wax?

Thanks

I thought the newer versions without the black stitches cost less than
the older version?
Anyway I'm sure this Ultimate Wipe will perform excellent as buffing
cloths as wellSmile

Right now I'm using the 3M micro-fibre cloths for drying as well as
buffing. Does the job well for buffing off waxes.. only its a tad bit
small.

Recently I just bought the MG's Ultimate Micro-fibre Wash Mitt. Initial
impressions.. lifts off dirt much easier than using a normal sponge..
glides over paint easily. However my only gripe is that it doesnt seem to
hold that much suds. It is very absorbant though, holds quite alot of
liquid but the suds are just not there.

Hammer, no i havent use it to buff off wax yet. I havent reach the stage
to know about waxes yet...yes its a microfibre type

Sherwin - I too bought the wash mitt and I like it too. Today when I wash
my car, I too noticed that somehow there is not enough suds but the
strange thing is I have used it previously with the same shampoo (swissol
car bath) and never notice that there is not enough suds. Only today -
very strange.

I will buy another UW to use for buffing off wax but I still havent
decided to use real wax or the NXT polymer stuff. Can someone advice? I
might buy the Swissol Scuderia but it cost too much money.

DigitalKL,
Last time when I was using a sponge with NXT Car Wash, the sponge could
hold more suds.. but the mitt doesnt hold much since the first time I
bought it.

NXT Tech Wax is polymer based- it should last longer compared to natural
carnauba-based waxes. NXT Wax gives gloss but not much of depth.. for
depth, carnauba waxes are still the best.

What I did on my car was to first layer NXT, then followed by a pure
carnauba wax on top.

thanks sherwin, but can it last how many months? btw i see that you use
Hot Rims Wheel Cleaner. I just bought one myself but wonder how safe is
it? My wheels are not those chrome or shiny kind. Kind of like a coat of
transparent paint on it that kind. If Im not mistaken its clear coated.
Will Hot Rims take away this coating with prolong use?

Thanks for the info
