When it comes to cars, it is 100% my responsibility . Also, because I am
fussy, so I cannot see a car that is hapharadly washed and nto cleaned
properly or dried properly. One of the cars is 7.5 years old, and there is
no water stain at all on the windscreen or the paintwork, and the
paintwork is still original.

I do actually......

And I do it with the same attention that I give my own car. It's just that it always ends up
pretty darned ghastly outside after a while because I'm not able to get my hands on it as
often as I'd like. Also the horizontal surfaces are a lil oxidised already. I think next time I get
to it will steal more of KEC's Diamond Cut and have a go at it.

Hehehehehe

Good job she keeps the inside absolutely spotless tho. I just need to look after the outside.

hbright: "Meaning to say if you have a choice, you won't do it?"

****Through choice I would rather do it than have her waste money at a
car wash while the car deteriorates every time they clean it. I just
don't understand how so much rubbish can build up.

I don't have gf/wife's car to detail, but I detail both my parents' cars.
Since I also drive their car, I also treat their cars just like my own
car. In total I have to take care of three cars at home. Not easy just
for washing them weekly, not to mention detailing them. I still can't
escape from housework since they think that car detailing is completely
unnecessary for them. It's like a triple work for me.

Wah, you guys very good husband/son ar.
As for me, I won't do it, maybe once in a while lah.
Detailing my own car eg washing, drying, polishing, wax, clean tyre rims
already made me half dead for Sunday already.

Normally, I just wash twice a week without polish/wax.

HB,

I am one of them who don't really detail my wife's car (only wash and
clean interior). For the past 2 years, I have not polish/wax my wife's car
and meanwhile, my car is being treat with tlc almost everyweek.

And yes, going odd places like pasar malam or the weather is going to
rain, my wife car will be out instead of mine.

So, I am ONE of them.

Well don't feel bad. On the way to work this morning I heard over Mix FM,
Richard is buying a secondhand car for his wife while he himself got a
brand new Ford Ranger..and some listener just disagree and suggested he
should buy a new car for the wife also. But come on..this is not always
possible. I don't think the wife is complaining unless he uses the car to
attract another women! Sometimes you need a car for "rough" use. So if
its between your car or your wife's (I am not sure obout GF..maybe this
may not holds true) chances are you'll use your wife's car for rough use.

I find this perfectly make sense and there is really no need to detail
the ladies car other than keeping it clean and in safe running condition.
If she needs a nice shiny car she can use mine.

For others who passionately detail their wife/GF's car, I suppose it a
labor of love and if they are getting the best end of the deal such as a
nice comfy bed in return...I suppose that's find as well.

HBright, I agree with you 100%. If you really want a flawless show car
just for hobby, you really need at least 1 daily driver in order to bring
you to congested places like Tesco/Carrefour/Giant/pasar malam, etc. That
garage queen will be parked at home, indoor of course, driven only during
the weekends. It'll remain to have dentless panels throughout the years,
provided the mechanic is very careful when servicing the car. Today, I've
just got the very first dent on my door, resulted from a door opening by
my colleague. The dent is very mild, but obvious to be noticed. I know
this kind of thing is just the matter of time (similar to stone chips
case). In fact, performing detailing job on your gf/wife's car is good in
the sense that it's a good learning ground. Any mistakes made on the
paintwork will be learned and avoided in future (on your garage queen). I
find that I realise more things each time I detail a car. So, in either
way it's a win-win situation to detail your gf/wife's car.
