interested to learn how 'crazy' you guys on detailing cars. may be i could
pick up few techniques for my own.

can i come on 2 wheels (read: kapcai) instead of 4 wheels to reduce
possible parking problem?

Hmm.....

I remember when something pretty similar to this was done up in Penang a
couple weeks ago and we had a lot of si fus come and see the work in
progress.

I think everyone will agree that watching someone like KEC at work doing
what he does best will put their own efforts into persective. It
certainly did for me, swoon and the Penang Proton owners club.

So... if you are in the Klang Valley and are keen on car detailing or
just like the idea of a shiny car do come and have a look. It`s not
retricted to Malaysia Peugeot Network members, nor is it restricted to
Peugeot owners and in fact we will even allow mightypawn to turn up on a
kapcai.

Then we`l be able to park our cars side-by-side. I think anyone who can
approach the shine of KEC`s car can be properly called a detailing si fu.

Only hardcorewaxheads need stay the whole day- everybody else please come
and go as you please.... or have your car washed by Autodetailer and
their double-filtered 250-bar high pressure washer (don`t worry- they
keep it down to 120 bar unless you want the to strip the paint off your
car) and do your own lil polish and wax if you want.

Cheers lads....... let`s get waxy.

Hey dudes.....

Sorry for the long silence- I have only just regained feeling in my fingers sufficient to type
after a heck of a weekend.

It was a fantastic workshop and the net result was two seriously shiny cars. We had about 20
people attend the workshop over the course of the Saturday and I think it is fair to say that
it was an education for all concerned.

Speaking for myself it was the first time non- AutoGlym were used on my car and boy were
they used.

First the bonnet and boot were sanded down. We used 1500 grit sanding pads made by 3M
on a random orbital sander to sand away to the orange peel. You got to see the technique
and the desired outcome for yourself. It`s impossible to describe accurately here.

After that the surface was cut with Meguair`s Diamond Cut Compound on a wool pad and
rotary polisher to get rid of the scratches left by the sandpaper. You could also use
AutoGlym`s Paintwork Renovator which is roughly equivalent to Diamond Cut but I suspect
you`d need to sweat a bit more as Diamond Cut is a LOT more abrasive than Paintwork
Renovator.

Next (if you got a black car) you would use Meguair`s Swirl Remover (also on a rotary
polisher) to remove the swirls caused by the Diamond Cut. My car is silver and I could get
away with skipping this step.

After that it`s on to the polish. In the company of so many Maguair`s afficionados I used
(their) Meguair`s Dual Action Cleaner Polish on a random orbital sander with a light abrasive
sponge pad to polish up the surfaces. The AutoGlym equivalent would be Super Resin
Polish.

Then on to the wax- applied by hand. I wanted to try KEC`s 3M Perfect-It Show Car Paste
Wax. I can safely say that it safely outshines the AutoGlym Extra Gloss Protection by some
margin.

Finally onto cleanup. Meguair`s Final Inspection cleaner (this stuff is magic and I`m buying
some) to clean away all compund resuide from the various nooks and crannies- very
important as you don`t want compund residue caking up in there.

After that AutoGlym Bumper Care for the black vinyl and rubber trim all round the car,
AutoGlym Instant Tyre dressing on the wheels and AutoGlym Glass Polish on the windows
and windshields. Finally mist over the entire car with Meguair`s Final Inspection, wipe off
with a microfibre cloth and stand back and enjoy one seriously shiny car.

Only the bonnet and bootlid were sanded but the entire car was treated with the Diamond
Cut and onwards. Timeframe required to do all this... well.... we did it over an entire
Sautrday and the cleanup took the whole of Sunday morning. It is much too short and I have
to admit the work could have and should have been done a lot better.

Next time (on my next car) I`m giving myself a lot more time to do this. The important thing
is I know how to do it now and so next time I`ll do it right.

In closing and on behalf of Malaysia Peugeot Network I`d like to thank KEC for his time and
compounds, David and William for helping out with lots of advice and expert eyes and most
of all, Darren of Autodetailer for the use of his premises, advice and equipment- to say
nothing of a singularly toothsome chicken curry for dinner Saturday night.

We`re going to do this again- maybe after Hari Raya i.e. mid-November and Darren has
most graciously provisionally (depending on his volume at the time) allowed us to use his
premises again.

Watch this space wax people.

Cheers lads... and once again thanks Karl, William, David and Darren.
