All CKD Civics use SOHC.

The only exception being the present 2.0L which uses a K-series engine
with DOHC.

Please bear in mind that the VTEC mechanism in the K20 works only on the
intake camshaft only.

true.. but still powerful, hehe... although it doesn't use the longer
valve-lift cam shaft.

yes, k20 that is used is actually k20a3, works only on intake valve. does
not use longer lift cam shaft. In other words, it's part 12v engine (low
rev) and part 16v engine (high rev), compared to fulltime 16v engine with
high lift cam. But saves hell a lot of petrol. Change over is about 2.2K
rpm.

The K20 in EP3 and DC5R have VTEC working on both the camshafts.
It works the 16valves full-time and has a 'wild-cam' lobe which provides
higher valve lift, like frost mentioned.

Frost,

2.2k rpm is kind of..low for the changeover from 12v to 16v, don't you
think...??
