Hi,

My wife drives a city idsi 2003 encounters jerking prob recently.
When she pushes the pedal slightly at the speed of 40-50km/h to gain
higher speed, the car jerks significantly for once before accelerating.
It happens quite frequent whenever she makes a turn at a junction at the
speed of around 30-40km/h. It jerks for once after the turn before
accelerating further when she pushes the pedal.

I don't think its the spark plug prob coz hey are still quite
fresh. Could it be the gearbox prob? She just changed the gearbox oil but
not through Honda Service Centre. (It's a Halvoline gold coloured
container priced at RM33/litre) Plz advice.

Dear Jonas,

Have you found a solution the problem your wife was facing with the honda city iDsi ?

I have a smiliar problem now. sad.gif

most of SC will point to gear box problem or something else although it is not the root cause

My advice is go to Fast bengkel at Sri Muda - They are specialist in Honda engine tune but able to detect common Honda issue

I got this problem with my Civic EK3 CVT.. Jerking whenever I wanna start acceleration. but it wont jerk when braking and accelerate, as long as the speed >10km/h.. Anyway I have not change the CVT Oil for my GB for 2 years =p recently bought New City Spec E and when I drive back my Civic (too long no drive, about 2 weeks in car porch), the jerking problem suddenly pop out. If i'm not wrong the last time I drove my Civic, I dun feel this problem. Gonna bring to Honda SC in Kuching this Saturday, if the problem can solve, I will let you all know. Anyway, thanks for those sharing about this topic, because in my mind was like, die lor, this time will cost me a bomb.. lols.. At least now I got option to change the oil 1st.. Cheers..

Send my EK3 to service center at Honda Jimisar Kuching for the gearbox problem. Met the senior service executive which arrange servicing for my City previously. Informed her bout my EK3 gearbox jerking problem. She recommended few solution for me.

1. Change CVTF 3.5L + 1L extra = RM 12x.xx - RM 13x.xx
2. Change CVTF + Remap the Gearbox (settings for the gearbox) = RM 19x.xx
3. Change CVTF + Full Flushing (settings/remap/change seal/flush the gearbox etc.) = RM 32x.xx - RM 34x.xx

Finally I choose to go for the option no.2 as she said it is sufficient for me after tested my car. Received call from them after 2 hours. After collect my car, 1st thing is to REV the gearbox. To my surprise the jerking feel was gone for good. All I get now is a smooth + responsive gearbox.

Recommended to do servicing 1st before changing the gearbox. It might help like the case of mine. smile_wink.gif

i suggest you to change the Quails on top of plugs, it will resolve you problem, i have honda city 2005 model with same problem but i solved it by change plug Quails, be careful in changing the Gear Oil, get gear oil only from honda. other gear oil will not work for honda, gear oil should be change after every 40,000 km
thanks
