What are the options for an owner whose car's paintwork is generally
still
good but marred by a few chips, dings and nasty scratches?

1) A full respray is the obvious choice, but what a shame eh.. scrapping
the factory paintwork because of a few scratches.

2) ChipsAway advertises quite heavily, so it comes to mind. But a lot of
forumers who have used their services have nothing but condemnation for
their sloppy work. Nothing more than a glorified Ah Kau spray shop, or so
I'm told.

3) Could take it to a regular spray shop but you know la these places..
colour matching is always a hit-or-miss affair. From a small scratch, you
could well end up with an even bigger eyesore.

4) Them DIY stuff like Turtlewax ColorCure, Sonax paint stick... all
bollocks! They could barely hide the scratch, let alone fix it. Those
demo
videos that show the scratches magically disappearing are all lies.

So... what other options are there? Anyone?

look for the same code of ur paint which u can find the code under ur
bonnet (proton , p2) other i guess lah.

me i got lots of chip so i cover it up with the same code of paint apply
with needle.

wet sanding may be ur answer if u want cheap without respray.

ZZRPilot, the best option available is to go for a full respray. I don't
know what kinda ride you have but factory paintwork is normally below par
due to cost reasons.

Due to frequent hiway travelling - my front sections and bonnet are full
of this chippings. If I opt for respray (just the front bonnet and
bumper) - worried the the colour will not blend with the original. May
give prospective buyers bad impression that it has met with an accident on
the front portion before. If spray the whole car - exceed $$$ pulak.

Try this place near mofaz / petronas station in penchala, before ttdi -
contact person - ah wah 012-2113181.

I've just got my whole bonnet hood and door panel repsprayed, and my
dented rear bumped touched-up there and the colour matched / blended
perfectly ...cost me around RM400+ for the job. Not sure if this is cheap
or expensive but I think I'm quite happy with their work.

Read in the papers some time back that Land Rover has services similar to
that of Chipsway called Smart Repairs. I am not sure where this is, but
maybe those of you who are really in need of such services can call up
Land Rover Malaysia to find out. By the way, in the article it did say
that they cater to other marques too. Not just Land Rovers.
