i drove both City CKD and Swift CBU, overall feeling:

1. City tend to be light in term of handling and speeding above 120. the
steering feeling really suitable for the use in town but not on long
strech highway. Better pick-up than swift due to the light build-up

2. Swift, nice body and interior, heavier but more stable handling.
better suspension system. better highway performance compare to city.

another thing that you should consider before buying, i think city will
fetch better 2nd market value compare to swift due to it more demand
reason.

happy buying...

Ahpek,

I went into those Honda showrooms to ask for a Jazz Vtec test drive.
Nevermind that they didn't have the car in the showroom, but not even a
return call to arrange for one.

I love both City and Swift.

City coz as everyone here said, low FC, powerful engine (for vtec), green
emission (idsi), engine efficiency and lots more.

Swift coz of helluva nice body design.

Well, i went for City vtec.

I compromise a bit on outer appearance (but somehow the looks grow into u,
gradually). But the thing that really attracted me: Economy.

2 years FOC service (parts & labour) & 3 years warranty. Of course FC play
the decisive factor. If Swift, u ended paying more to the government than
the actual car itself (CKD remember, so higher tax). I heard in certain
countries, Swift is more less same prices as Picanto, Getz, Aveo.

Btw, why ppl seem can't differentiate between front and back of City?
Front automative ppl that I talked with, coz at front mirror of City u
have that little 'triangle' glass that in other cars it's actually at the
back (or passenger mirror). Which create longer space for dashboard
(somehow a feel as if in a mini MPV).

I mean, can u really drive a City if the back (boot) of City is actually
at front? Why u don't say bout Jazz/Fit the same thing? After all, City
does share almost the same body platform as Jazz / Fit.

My conclusion, those ppl who don't know back & front of City must really
don't what they're talking about... Duh...!

the issue is that in countries where the swift is in the same range as the
getz/picanto... cars like the city/vios aren't even sold at all cause
civics and corollas are entry level.

I also don't quite like the fact that honda looked at the markets of india,
indonesia, thailand, philippines, and chose a platform that they could
strip and sell cheaply. You get cars like the city/vios/unser/innova only
sold in this region. Only saving grace is the city/vios all conform to the
latest euro safety requirements due to the fact that they're based on the
jazz/echo platform.

and yeah, first time my dad saw a city, "why is the butt longer than the
nose?". They should have just made it a station wagon from the beginning,
like the eventual airwave.

Well like it or not, the CT isn't meant for everyone. Rock solid types
will never go for it, preferring instead to go for the tried and tested
typical old-school sedan design.

Daring, devil-may-care risk-taking types will embrace the CT's bold
lines, using the car as a statement of their need for something radical
and/or as a manner of defiance against staid, over-used run-of-the-mill
designs. Chances are, this type will prefer to go against the grain; if
their parents like it, something must be wrong.

I'm not saying who is right or wrong; ultimately the decision lies with
the buyer.

The sales stats of CT vs Vios proves that the majority of M'sians are
still afraid of change, even with all that overseas education and what
not. Deep down, they're mostly risk-averse and afraid people will laugh
at them for trying something new. In retrospect, they continue to spew
forth words of pseudo wisdom to continually justify their decision to
have taken a different path. For a car to have garnered so much feedback
both good and bad, is indeed an honour for a humble car of South East
Asian origin.

IMHO the issue of the CT's controversial looks has been done to death.
The facelift model was designed to address most of these issues, and then
some. So I suggest all detractors to lay off the silly diatribe about the
old CT, which is no longer in production. Anyone still on that topic
hasn't kept up with the times and ought not to flog a dead horse any
more.

Just be happy with what you have and forget about the old CT. You didn't
buy it, fine. If looks is the only reason that kept you away, then I
don't know how shallow you must be in person.

Happy motoring

If the City is floaty, change the shocks and springs to an adjustable
set. Change the tyres to at least 195/50/R15.

I agree with Gregy,

I'm driving the 3G City and it's from the first batch. The hot topic at
that time was between the vois and the city, which to choose. Eventually
I choose the city even there were so many forums here telling me that the
vois look better and because it's a Toyota, the second hand value will be
higher. I don't really care what people might have to say about the vios
and how good is it. Until today, I get more stares at my City then when
I see a vios on the road and somebody passing it taking a glance at it.
This is the thing with humans, once a newe design is launch, they will
admire it, but once that design has been in the market for sometime and
it blends into the design of most of the cars around, they would not even
look at it. The thing with the City is that design from the start has
been label odd and funny and some even say ugly. But till today, I see
more people looking at a City past by them rather then a vois. Luckily I
choose a City.

hey, hey. don`t be defensive of ct.

it is a great car on its own right. the overall package is just right for
the Msia market - i would say. ct may be a little bit poor in handling but
in Msia - who cares? the overall package is still good.

swift in msia should has a smaller market, however, if the hatchback civic
of the 80s is of any indicator, then swift may have a substantial market
share too. plus it looks great!

both r great cars, depending on what u want!

Swift = 5th Best car in Japan for 2005/2006

It's up to you to decidelah a babe magnet car or a common car for poor
country like us.
