haha, there is a meguiar's detailing center in kelana jaya called harry
bright. have not been there nor have i used their services. maybe you can
drop by and check them out and then decide for yourself.

Black paint will reward you with a smile everytime you look at it, IF it is
properly maintained.

As for the lacquering, i have not heard of that before. Usually clear coats
are added in the bodyshop not 1 week after. But then again, I know nuts
about painting. Hehe.

DIY can be fun too u know......Big Smile

"Once this is done you either get the thing wet sanded to remove the
orange peel and swirl marks left by the painter"

****That's the painters job, if he's that bad it would be unwise to let
him paint your car.

firefly,

u shd never wash car with only water and wet cloth or sponge. It WILL
cause more damage to your paint as the dust will be pick up and swiped
around by your cloth/sponge and cause swirl marks. Whereas the foam in car
shampoos will lift the dirt off and away from the paint surface when u wash
and the lubricating properties keeps dust from scratching the paint so it
is safer to use any car shampoo than without. Get the best shampoo u can
afford and use it sparingly, just enough to foam up. Some cheap car
shampoos are actually nothing more than dish detergents so be wary of
those, get only reputable brands.

just receive my car today...

the car was silver colour, but unfortunately there some places looks like
got some white colour habuk-habuk on it(look like haze stick on the
paint) this can be easily spooted when having direct sunlight on that
area. its looks like those paste compound habuk stick on the paint
already... is this true?
i wash with clean water but it still there... how to remove these?

and some place got a some swirl mark too...

how to remove these ar?

will WD40 harm the car paint? cause a place got a staint of the
cellophane tape, then i use water to rub also cant gone, somemore become
worst, then use WD40, easy easy gone...

thanks...

NiCkY7,

Don't wax or polish your car for 3 to 4 weeks after respraying. The paint
takes time to complete cure and dry and waxing will interfere with that
process by clogging the pores.

Nicky7.....

Alamak....... Look very very VERY carefully at the habuk man. Is it ON TOP of the lacquer
(clearcoat) or UNDER it?

Run your fingers over the habuk.... can you feel anything? If you can then no worries its on
top of the lacquer and a lil cutter will get rid of it. If you can't feel anything with your fingers
then it's UNDER the lacquer and you got trouble.

You're right of course... it probably IS paste compund which hasn't been taken off the car
but the question is did it happen before or after the last layer of lacquer was laid on?

What I'd do is take the car back to the painter's and tell em to do the panel again or take a "I
don't care how you do it but get rid of the habuk" line with them. You might want to raise a
few forummers from here and friends to go with you and look heavy in the background
while you say this to the painter.

Alternatively (and only IF there is still a layer of lacquer UNDER the habuk- you need master
detailer eyes to spot this though... I know one and I'll ask him look at your car if he can) you
can err... sand it down past the habuk and you'll be ok.

The remedy for swirl marks is a cutter and a very very clean polishing pad. Meguair's
Diamond Cut Compund and Swirl Free will do it as will AutoGlym's Paintwork Renovator.
Sure... you can sand it too if you really wanted to establish your cojones.......

WD40 WILL harm car paint. Try some cooking oil first and if that doesn't work you can get
posh and try Meguair's Final Inspection or do what I do and use a grease and tar remover on
it.

Good luck man... congratulations on your new paint job. And don't feel too bad if you think
it's not up to scratch- remember that the only reason you even notice the flaws is because
you hang out with the madmen on this forum.

Cheers

Dude...... I think very hard to find painter which won't leave swirls and orange peel lah.
Certainly I haven't found one and neither have many people I know. I've seen em on very
very expensive paintjobs and I've seen em on lousy cheapo paintjobs.

If you know any painter who won't leave swirls and orange peel do please refer them to me.
I'll be needing to paint a whole car soon.

Cheers

Thank u DIRAVI for the advice...

i think the habuk is on the top layer, cause i can feel a bit dusty when
i touch the car... so am i right?

btw, thanks to a forum member popiah who wanna let me try the clay 1st,
if the clay can solve this problem, then i no need go back to the paint
shop.
i prefer to fix it by myself rather to bring back to them. cause i wan my
car perfectly :P, they may not so carefull then end up i need to patch up
the work again... if it will cost me much to fix then i bring back... :P

actually those light scratch is not in swirl pattern, it looks like when
they washing the car, the cloth is a but rough... hmmh, maybe wax or
polish can cover it. but i think i need to wait sometimes for polish or
wax, since the paint is still fresh...

alamak, i use the WD40 liow, OMG, have to go wash that part 1st... :(

seems i having some trouble from the new paint, 1 good point is the price
is quite cheap... :P

:)

****Federal Auto in JB. I've lost count of how many cars I've had painted
there and none of them have had any problems. That's saying something
when you realise the standards I insist on.

2K paint is SO easy to use it virtually applies itself. It staggers me
that paintshops have problems with it.
