I did drive up this particular stretch twice. Once on my old Nissan SSS
160J. No problem. The car loves the cool air it sucks in. And the 2nd.and
last time was on my Wira back in 2001.No problem for the 7 year old car.
But even back then, the road condition was not good already compared with
the time I went up the hill with the SSS back in 1993.
Now, I still drive to the "foot" of the climb with my low profiled conti,
but never dared to take the challenge for fear of konking up the
transmission, and next, bcos the road surface is getting bad.
But as I mentioned earlier, many young cikus still want to show off their
prowness by driving or should I say "hauling the cow up the tree" on this
stretch.
I think very soon, the authorities will put some sort of a control over
the numbers of cars allowable to go up this stretch of the road.
Otherwise, with deterioting road condition and reckless young cikus
combined, we may see one or two cars landed in the ditch sometime soon.

Btw, for those who have travelled this stretch including the one leading
to the BOH tea plant during the last holidays, it was a nightmare indeed !!
Cars after cars piling in to the plant, with also the same amount of cars
coming out from the BOH plant too. It was at one point, all the cars just
can't move at all. Until some one genius volunteer to reverse his car for
a good 50m or so...
Folks, CH is enjoyable only when its not a holiday season...
The many times I have been there, it was only when the rest of the msians
are working, that me and my family truly enjoyed CHighlands..err..hope its
still will be so in years to come..
cheers.

Actually the title shld be 'try to drive up at least once in your life'
haha..

A saga 1.3 with one passenger can make it up but the 1st gear all the way
is scary, had to stop 1/2 way to cool down.

Up ther got a bad condition tower can see indonesia while the clouds
speed past below u.

For what I have seen in the scenario of bro Richnet's experience(after
about a year), I would say the possibility of the Manual Transmission Oil
in the gear box is at the low level. When climbing up the hill, the
steepness of the road is causing the transmission oil level even low. As
a result, gear box running at 'not lubricated environment' and causing
excessive heat to the gear box. End up, the clutch burn occur.

I would highly recommend those who wanna drive uphill, may it be Genting
or Cameron or Brinchang, fill up your transmission oil a bit higher than
the maximum level, or at least at 'MAX' level. Although it might
causing 'laggy' feel, but it is better than clutch burn, right?

Anyway, just my 2 cents. Enjoy your drive fellow members :)
