For Transnational the same bus is assigned to 2 drivers. The same 2
drivers will drive the same 2402 till that bus konked out or go for
services. If the speed limiter was installed on 2402, the driver that
terrorize u can no longer do the same again.

I dont think he will be fired. The most can happen is that he will
received stern written warning. Lose or reduced allowances for few months.
Bus drivers have a very strong kesatuan sekerja esp Transnational.
Management cannot simply do whatever they fancied.

Its good to know that Transnational and Plusliners paid fixed salary and
fixed allowance. All others buses paid according to the trip performed.
That is why in the good ole days, the drivers drove so fast. Arrived
faster and can rest longer for next trip.

I also been told that Trans make it compulsory for 2 drivers to drive the
bus in a single journey ( except for short distance like to Ipoh or
Seremban). The old days, drivers can takes turn driving. One can go
fishing and while the other can drive till he passed out.

I took Transnational all the times because they have good drivers. All the
drivers must have at least 5 yrs driving experience and married. They wont
allow bachelors to drive their buses. Kind of neat rules. They put up the
drivers in the decent motel or hostel for outstation accomdation. Some
other bus operators just let the driver sleep in the bus overnight which
is kind of stink. Transnational is still the safest bus around considering
the number of buses and drivers in their stable. ( No i dont work for
them :) and not their PR )

ah, thanks for the clarification, so indeed, the driver and the co-driver
will be driving a very slow express bus from now on. i jsut hope he learnt
his lesson and start driving safer.

it is indeed that transnasional has a strong worker's union. there was
like 3 of the union reps that day of the hearing, so i expect that much
that the driver will go scoot free, oh well, for a married man with
family, allowances reduced for sevral months should be a pretty stern
warning for him, before he lose his job...i hope i don't encounter him
again, and even if i did, if he does drive accordingly, i'll let all of
you here know as well, and of course, their management as well. i mean, i
have to give credit where and when it is due. it shouldn't be jsut one
sided. agree?

as for the press...well, if only they published my story back then, i
think they can claim to be the first to get first hand info...now after
the incident happens, they are beginining to highlight whatever other ppl
said, i just see it funny, and definately shows just how much *the paper
that cares* really cares.

yeap, a big bunch of bull...

i'll write to them again, highlighting this incident, and see if they ever
care about it...ever.

Stupe,

You deserve a big pat on the back. Well done bro!!

BTW, can you suggest to the HR manager that all their Transnational buses
have complain phone no at the rear of their buses? I hope that not only
Transnasional, but all buses and lorries have this on the rear of their
vehicle. Its something that petroleum companies have on their lorry
tankers. If not mistaken, FEDEX or GDEX courier also have this on their
pick ups.

Well done again bro!!

Dear all,

The HR manager finally replied to my email and constant *buggering* for
the hearing result, appended hereby, is the excerpt of the email that
transpire between me and her.

my last email to her:
Dear Ma`am,

Selamat Hari Raya.

My name is ****** and i was the witness for the Domestic Enquiry for En.
Jusoh b. Bakar on the 19th of November 2003 at your HQ Meeting room in
Keramat.

As such, it has been almost 2 weeks and i`ve yet to recieve any
notification about the action that has been taken on the driver or the bus.

i would appreciate it if you could fill me in with the details.

The recent accident at K. Lipis/Merapoh has just jolted me up, as it could
very well be me should no appropriate action was taken towards the said
driver.

thank you ma`am,

******

Her reply:

Dear Mr **********

I apologise for the delay in replying your e-mail because we
just started work after the long hari raya break and have been quite busy
the last few days.

On behalf of Transnasional Express Sdn Bhd, I would to extend
our sincere appreciation for your cooperation for coming in as the witness.

With regards to the above case, the enquiry panel had deliberated over the
proceedings and decided to suspend the said driver for one (1) week
without pay and also a final warning.

We hope the said decision will somewhat lessen the concern you
had especially with the recent incident at K.Lipis/Merapoh.

Thank you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

there you go guys, though one week is not a too long of a period, but at
least they meant it. and i suspect the final warning to this particular
driver does carry weight as i guess from the forum, we can conclude that
he is a repeat offender, despite being warned once.

feeling damn happy for doing my own little part, just doing my civic duty.

by the way, feel free to call her to complain about the other drivers that
is driving recklessly, like i said, you ahve to be ready to stand in as
witness.
