Just back from a short holiday to Kelantan last weekend. One route to
Rantau Panjang (coming from Jeli) was cut off due to floods so I took the
one from Pasir Mas which incidently had a massive jam due to the
nomination for the by-election.
Road was smooth from KB to Gua Musang and onwards to Camerons. Last few km
at Lojing still under construction, sigh!

what landslide? where? 25/11 travelled from KB to Camerons, no landslide
observed.
Monsoon season? not much rain during the day time, mostly at night. Guess
I must have been lucky. First time in a long while went for a driving
holiday and enjoyed the 80kmh speed throughout, relaxing. These roads I
travelled are also less congested. But I must say the new road from KK to
Grik and the new stretch from Gua Musang to CH, are wonderful
Keep us posted on any updates up North/East
Cheers

I bet the landslide stretch mentioned earlier is OK by now (i don't expect
them to take 3/4 year for a 1km stretch repair, or do they?)
There was work going on to complete the loging to the CH junction (road
was going through veg farms and very narrow) but haven't been there since
my last trip late last year.

I'm planning my detour from JB - north - east - KB - Kuantan - Mersing -
JB again. Can you all advise, which is the best timing (from JB) to
travel, place of interest, place to stay overnight etc. I'll travel
together with my family (wife+2 kids), hope to get some advise from you
all in order to get an good trip. Most likely during this coming DepaRaya
long holiday or year end school holiday. Thanks

Segamat-Kuantan road. From Kuantan take the Jerangau Jabor Road to KT. From
KT take the Coastal road to Kota Baharu via Penarik- Kuala Besut- Tok Bali
-KB.
that the least busy road i can think of.
Stopover.
Cerating (near Kuantan) impiana or legend r ok. Awana Kijal in kemaman,
Residence in Paka (dungun). In KT, Grand Con is ok too. or maybe u wanna
visit tasik kenyir. In Sutera in merang is fine. or maybe u wanna try d
authentic malay house experience in aryani, owned by raja baharin the
architect. From merang, redang is just 30 minutes away.
Furter up, in kuala besut, perhentian ios also 30 minutes away via
speedboat.
KB...perdana hotel, diamond puteri etc.. many resorts in tok bali...
have a nice trip

Thanks for the advise and noted the location. My plan is to travel from
JB to north-Gerik and stop over Tasik Temenggor then Jeli-KB-KT-Kuantan -
JB. Is this route is OK to drive? or any other better route to travel
with good place to stop over?
Take this opportunity to wish all a happy Deeparaya holiday.

Just would like to add to Ardenz good advise.
tly, from JB you may take the PLUS highway all the way to kuala Kangsar or
the federal roads, depending on your timing, the time taken will vary
tremendously, it is holiday season.
The road from KK to east is excellent (at least until Grik), maybe the
best "federal" road I've seen, no more toll roads after this until JB
(wonderful). At Banding/Tasik temenggor you can stay at the Banding Island
resort, contact Syarul 05-7921791, 05-7921792.room for RM93 and above.
Grik to jeli although the sceneray is very nice the road condition is
quite rough, drive slower than usual.
The coastal road from Kota Baru until JB is really nice......mmmmm would
love to go there again
