Hi guys.
I have a Honda City VTEC year make 2008. Mileage slightly over 158000. City drive mostly. Currently I am driving with these issues with the car.

1. When N to D, got crunching sound
2. Then when slowing down, Say 40 to 0. The gear will stuck at higher(u feel gear heavy) then only slowly come down just before speed comes to 0
3. And when at low speed, at lower gear when step on accelerator got crunching sound as well as a small little jerk
4. Small jerk at engine when idle at D at random time. And when about to move from standstill just before I step accelerator But when in N, the jerk disappear.the rpm would be dip below 0.5k just a split second when it jerks

The car would otherwise drive smoothly when cruising.

Fyi:; I changed my gearbox flywheel last year August when was at about 135000-140000mileage. But problem still same so that's why need to find out what's wrong exactly first.

Thanks in advance :)

Sound like more to your gb problem, not flywheel since you mention gears not changing.

Your city 2008 is CVT, right? Have you change the CVT fluid before?

I think better check with a trusted mechanic better, and do it fast before more things gets damaged....

I am not a technical person, so will try to explain in layman terms....lol

The flywheel is located some what in between the engine and gearbox. When you start the car, the starter motor actually spin the flywheel to get the pistons moving. Once the engine is on and spinning it actually spins the flywheel. Flywheel also gives momentum to the car and also transfer the car engine power to the gearbox, from there the power is transferred to the drive shaft and to the wheels.

Hope you understand the above.... :P

Hi vr2turbo thanks bro for the explanation. so thats why my first mechanic told me too. but he relates it more to the gb. oh well. all in all means more $$$ to be forked out soon for the gb to be checked.

quick qs. any idea how much a 'normal fixing' wch may include parts costs vs a change of new gb (recon/new/chopshop) ? newbie here appreciate any kind of input :)

thanks in advance.

CVT is very new to me too. AT at least I know there are clutches, solenoids, etc., and for AT sometimes when there are problems we can add some additives which have helped before. For CVT is totally new and different. There is also no additives for CVT at the moment also.

As for prices really no idea but a new CVT gearbox from a different car make, I heard is like RM20k. If that is the case looks like recon, or chop shop is a must.....
