Trying out the Goodyear due to it's 2ply construction for the sidewall since the original tyres are passenger car tyres Continental MC5 whose sidewall have 1 ply only and feel it is a bit soft.
Both tyres unmounted from the rims, the Goodyear sidewall was much harder to the touch whereas the Conti was very soft
Wrangler Triplemax also have V speed rating over Conti H rating

Rugged thread blocks

Sidewall design also more rugged than the plain MC5

After a week use, felt that the Goodyear are a bit more bumpy due to the 2ply sidewall. Apart from the bumpier ride, the Goodyear are more stable at higher speed, less body roll, more stable at corner, all these contributed by the harder sidewall. Moreover Goodyear have emphasize these tyres for improved resistance against road hazards.

Overall I like the more rugged looks of these Goodyear for the forester, The better handling and ride at high speed, better cornering, less body roll, trade off for a little more bumpier ride. Probably going to play around with the air pressure and see how they work out.
Will also test out their wet traction and handling as have not been raining for the past week... :P

In their brochure and advertisement, wet traction is improved over their previous wrangler. To me the traction when new should be good, but once the sipes starts to disappear it might deteriorate, by then should be half worn already

Went outstation with the Forester for CNY.
On the highway, I was surprised that these tyres were not that noisy, even though rugged looking and with block pattern, to me it was quieter than my previous Conti MC5. As was going outstation I pump back air pressure to normal since will be running high speed on highway. As mentioned before the ride is more bumpy than the Conti since the Goodyear sidewall are 2 plies and harder, but the body roll in much less and car is more stable. Running 110kph was nice and smooth. In town, since road condition was not that good the ride was more bumpy.
On our return trip yesterday, highway was completely jammed up, so use coastal route from Changkat Jering to Teluk Intan. Coastal route was clear, some part was straight and many parts winding which was good to test the Goodyears. Corners pretty well, and now with harden sidewall it performs much better than the Conti. Some parts had heavy showers and again the Goodyear performed well.
So far very satisfied with the Wrangler Tiplemax. Will test further and see how it fares as it wears.... ;)
