I have a rattle from the back of my 2011 Honda Accord. I have a mechanic that I trust but I think the job is too time consuming for him. He's a real spit and sawdust kind of guy.
My question is; should I take it to a mechanic, an accessory shop or back to Honda?

I don't think the accessory shop will do it as you have mentioned too time consuming, but you can try. Honda SC may not find it either as I have heard many stories already on Service Center checking for noise. Best bet is your trusted mechanic. If you think he won't do it find another mechanic...
