I'm driving a Toyota Altis, currently running with 215/50R17 Yokohama Advan dB V551. As you can see I'm a person who is looking for quiet and comfortable tyre, and of course, reasonable price. After long research and survey, I found these two models. Which one would you go for?

My guess is they are about the same. Both are mid category, quiet and comfort type tyres. Since you already on Yoko, might as well try the AE-50 which are newer. GR-100 already in the market for some time....

Thank you for your reply. To me AE50 seems a downgrade of V551, but a lot review gave this tyre high mark, a lot of high expectation. GR100 also more expensive than AE50.

Yes, in a way, but V551 is much more expensive. AE-50 I think not too bad as this is the newer Bluearth model. The older AE-01 is entry model....

After much consideration, my choice went for Bridgestone Turanza GR-100. AE50 doesn't give me much confident due to the thread design, especially the side lines but that gives better corner handling. Keen to try out Bridgestone as I never hit on their tyre product before, but I know they are good. Might want to update the price in the price list thread, 215/50R17 Bridgestone Turanza GR-100 RM410 each donut inclusive of GST, Xin Fu Tyre Shop Penang.

Think am one of the rare few fellas here using GR-100. I have also used the Yoko v551 before, long long ago on my previous ride. v551 is still quieter in my opinion. However I felt the Yoko v551 is not so confident in the rainy conditions on highway compared to GR-100.

I got my GR-100 from Xin Fu too same size as yours. Please share your review of the GR-100, assuming you have already changed to it.

Bro. Vega, your GR-100 got UTQG on the sidewall? My friend using 205/55R16, Treadwear, Traction and Temperature all blank.

Anyway, V551 grooves are small, therefore water channeling is not that good, but then will be quieter. Bigger grooves tents to create more noise that is why C-Drve 2 are not as quiet.

Got. Treadwear 260, Traction A, Temp A. My size is 215/50R17.

Ya anyway, I've ditched V551 a long long time ago. It was wonderfully quiet, but scary when driving on the highway in heavy rain storm.
