hi every sifu, newbie here, just joined this forum 10 minute ago
just bought my Proton waja last 6 month, the FC is 10km/L but most people Waja can up to 12km/L to 16km/L
i wonder if my car need some improvement or service.
Detail of my waja:
2001 4g18 1.6cc
14 year old
230k ODO
no modification
Engine oil:Mobil 1 multigrade 15W-40 changed from hi-rev 20W-50 slightly improved FC
Ron 95 shell/petronas usually pump full tank and use till almost light up
60% city 40% highway
90/100km/h on highway 50km/h on city (average) is it too fast? or it considered light footer?
no extra weight carried exclude myself(90kg) lol
tyre(Bridge stone) 15" original rim too
thx sifu for advice

The FC is higher could be due to the age of the car which is alredy 14 years and have clocked 230k km. You changed from 15w-40 to 20w-50 which is a heavier old and you get better mileage? If you engine is not consuming engine oil you should try 10w-40 Semi Synthetic oil.
It is not only the top speed that consume more fuel, it is the acceleration also. Try to accelerate slowly from stand still especially when driving in town/city
One question, is your car auto or manual? Auto FC will be higher due to power lost in torque converter......

Oh! if 20w-50 to 15w-40 then will be better mileage as the oil is lighter. End number is the weight of your oil when hot, so 50 is thicker, changing to 40 is lighter. The 15w-40 should be Mobil Super 1000 mineral oil. Not sure you will get better mileage with the Super 2000 SS 10w-40 as hot time still 40 weight. Since your engine is old and have clocked 230k km I won't recommend going to 30.
Other than that you can give the car a good tune up, probably change the plugs if you have not done for a long time and remember to change your ATF also since you mentioned is Auto.....

Check your car manual if you still have it. If not, normal plugs usually 20 to 30k km, Platinum probably 50k, Iridium good till 80k and the Iridium tough said to reach 100k.
Yes, ATF is auto transmission fluid. Maintenance schedule usually every 20k km oil pan change, every 60k km flush and 100k km ATF filter change.
