Hi,
Seeing the very attractive Honda year-end sales promotion, I am thinking to upgrade to an Accord VTI-L 2.0.
But I heard from the SA that this model is from 2013, so it is already 2 years+, and the engine is i-VTEC, which is carried over from the previous gen, and the tranmssion is 5-speed only (while others have moved to CVT or 6-speed). So on first glance, sounds like old technology?
So is it still worth or should I go for other models?
At the same time also considering Nissan Teana with the XCVT and new 2.0 engine, seems to be very competitive as well.
I am still leaning towards the Accord and hope to get some advice here.
Thanks!
Regards,
CK

As far as I know from friends, the Teana have more space and more comfortable, but Accord have better handling and better resale value. So you have to chose according to your priorities....

Thanks for the info. What about interior built quality? Is Accord's interior made of better materials?
Also, engine reliability which one is better?

They did not mention much on the interior built quality. As for the engine reliability both are as good....

I am using the 2.0 VTI-L for almost 2 years, no issue so far, very satisfy with it. Accord has the balance of comfort and handling, instead of the Teana and Camry which are very comfort bias (more body roll on cornering), and the Mazda 6 is sport bias (harder suspension).
Yes the engine and gearbox are carried over, engine has a slight change (if you notice it has 1hp less and 1nm more compared to previous gen8 accord) and it is using electronic power steering which is better than the previous gen accord. They have fixed the known issues (steering and suspension) on the previous gen and retain those that are reliable (e.g. engine and gearbox). This is also one of the reason making Accord the D-segment leader which was hold by the Camry for many years before this Gen9 Accord.
