Hi All,
I would like to get some feedback and advice. Recently I went to Cameron Highlands and I drove my Exora Bold (CFE) up Mossy Forest at Cameron Highlands. This is a very steep and uneven tar-road, about 5km up to the very top.
I was using the L gear and at certain steep points, ~45 degrees gradient, the Exora came to a very slow crawl, almost to the point of stalling. Somehow the gear box did not go down to 1st gear (due to CVT???). There were 4 adults and 4 young children. At one point I was afraid I might bust the gear box. Worst still when I was going up and some one is coming down and I had to stop to let the other car go through first. Moving the car from 0km at 45 degrees gradient was an unpleasant experience.
I am non-technical and really would like to know if there are any good advice on going up very steep and uneven roads with the Exora Bold? Maybe the Exora is not suited for this?
Thanks!

alternately, if u really want the gearbox to kickdown to lowest possible gear, just releast the throttle for a second and then press the throttle back hard...

I was wondering if the SAT button plays any role here?

Your transmission is CVT, right? What I know, the SAT button is to give you the auto gear change feeling, means the feel of gear change which CVT does not have...

Its not a problem but a bad design or programming to me.
On super steep climb, the engine will needs more rev to climb esp when moving from stationary, however the tcu/ecu seems to prevent this and keep control the rev to be below 2k rpm and below the cvt lock up point.
So, it will prompt up to push the pedal further and then only the ecu/tcu allow the engine to rev.
What happen when boost kicks in right after the lock up point?
Its a violent jerk forward.
At least that's what I experience at the big red strawberry park.
And yes, I am on L.
