Recently I'm trying to look for a car around 50k. Usage : Family car

There are 2 options

1. Either get a new car

2. Or a used car that worth it.

I try to search around online and found that 2011 Slyphy and 407 is around that price range. I'm wondering if this is a good bargain since both car cost more than RM100k when it's new. It's a huge price cut. But is there any reason behind this? How is the maintenance cost? fuel consumption? reliability? safety? etc

I heard Slyphy once won car of the year?? Meanwhile, continental car more reliable??

Or any other better choice that I should consider. Welcome sifu to give some advice.  ^_^

So far in Malaysia, Japanese car seems more reliable. I have a freind who also bought a second hand Slyphy at around RM50k also. He like it becuase of space, leg room is the rear is huge. Power wise not bad, except he did mentioned some parts are expensive but basic maintenance are okay.

Not too sure, as he mentioned certain parts he changed was expensive. Another things was changing the spark plugs also a hassle, manifold was blocking. Something like those V6 machines, have to remove those before can get to the spark plugs, but then if you are not into DIY, don't bother about this.....hahhahhaha

My acquaintance drove a 407 and was very happy with it. Basic maintenance wasn't an issue, and since the 407 has got a very poor resell value, you can buy a much better one cheaply compared to a Sylphy.

Sylphy on the other hand drives and feels wonderful. So big and very comfortable. 407 has got a very steep front windscreen and everytime I get into it, I knock my head.

For second hand cars Conti will have reliability issues. Usually first two to three years not too bad, thereafter usually not too good......
