Thank you.

hehehe

Well I dunno about expensive or cheap but BETTER waxing products are not
abrasive i.e.
they don't strip your lacquer or paint away. The WORSE ones are abrasive
and work like a
cutter i.e. they strip a bit of the lacquer or paint each time you use it
so that ultimately your
paintwork is either exposed to the elements or worn thin.

I remember using a not-so-good waxing product (very well known and
reputable brand but
errr.. cheaper) for my polishing... about once a week and by then end of
about 6 months I
had no lacquer left and the paint followed in short order.

By no means is this exhaustive but I have found that Autoglym and
Meguairs are very very
good- the shine lasts a long time too with care and the use of proper
(i.e. their) shampoos
when washing.

Maybe other people can share their experiences?

Cheers

Karl_Erik_Chee,

Do you have the link to Zaino's products webpage? It's not sold here in
KCH, but i heard it's really good too compared to MG & AG...so would be
keen to give it a try.

I am currently using AG resin polish & Extra Gloss Protection on my red
aero...but i feel that i were to use AG shampoo, it's not economical, as
it's really expensive! So, any other shampoo brands to recommend as
alternative to AG shampoo, but at the same time, will not strip off the
AG
wax applied?

Another question: which product is good to be used to get rid of swirls?
Any advice?

hi
if u wanna wash the engine ,cover the electrical parts 1st and dont use
high pressure water.use engine degreaser and hose off with flowing water.
probably a good idea to cover the belting as well.water and belts dont
get
along together
warm-up the engine after wash to get rid of any moisture.perhaps drive it
around your housing area; this is to blow air into the engine compartment
hope that helps

so, the engine degreaser can be applied almost on any of the parts inside
the engine ? also, what do you use to cover those areas inside the engine
that you would not want to touch water or the degreaser ?

Thanks.

hi tjk
spray the engine degreaser to get rid of the oily/greasy stuff on the
engine, let it soak a while.you probably have to brush off the stain area
prior to hosing it off with the water.i normally cover the electrical
part
with the plastic wrap (the one that comes in rolls).repeat the process in
the event the oily area remains

First that Wurth Powerblitz stuff can be had at Gervasi Auto Services
which is a Peugeot
workshop in UEP subang jaya- take fed highway going towards Shah Alam,
pay RM1 toll at
Batu 3, then take first left exit off fed highway. Go straight until you
PASS a mosque on your
left then take next left turn (junction without traffic lights), then
follow road through until
you get to another traffic light where you turn left then first right
then right again, follow
road around and you'll see a whole bunch of Peugeots. Apart from the
powerblitz
screenwash they sell Wurth wipers and Wurth engine oil- good stuff!!

Garycct.... yes I use only the AutoGylm stuff to wash the car- every week-
and it lasts a
good 4 months for the 500cc bottle so I suppose price is ok lah and will
get better when the
1 litre bottles become available. As for Meguair's well... I've seen the
results and its good
stuff only I've invested so heavily in AutoGlym it won't be easy to
switch even if MG is better
so I'll stick to AG for the time being.

Zaino stuff is supposed to be absolutely brilliant but not easy to get
hold of (at least I don't
know where to get it) and not the easiest thing to apply properly. So
again I reckon I'll stick
to AG for now.

Dunno about swirls and scratches lah... for me I've always taken the err
traditional route i.e.
a cutter but maybe someone else will be along in a moment who can give
better advice.

Cheers

Oh like that ah?

Ok then I'm not surprised the cloth was dirty- what you did there was
remove years worth of
ingrained dirt so the good news is that most of that has been removed and
next time you
try it the cloth won't get quite so dirty.

What I usually do is wash then polish then wax. I think some people wash
then wax directly
after but these are guys who are truly fanatical about their car finishes
and so they wax
pretty often- often enough that the polish never has a chance to come
off.... maybe
something like once a week.

Lazy beggars like me do it only 4 times a year so yeah... I got to do it
all every time.

Cheers

The WORSE ones are abrasive \nand work like a \ncutter i.e. they strip a bit of the lacquer or paint each time you use it \nso that ultimately your \npaintwork is either exposed to the elements or worn thin. \n\nI remember using a not-so-good waxing product (very well known and \nreputable brand but \nerrr.. cheaper) for my polishing... about once a week and by then end of \nabout 6 months I \nhad no lacquer left and the paint followed in short order. \n\nBy no means is this exhaustive but I have found that Autoglym and \nMeguairs are very very \ngood- the shine lasts a long time too with care and the use of proper \n(i.e. their) shampoos \nwhen washing. \n\nMaybe other people can share their experiences? \n\nCheers \n\nDIRAVI\n---------------\n\nMacOSX- Because making UNIX user-friendly is easier than debugging Windows\n \n Reply Messages Complaint \n \nKarl_Erik_Chee\n\nTotal Posts: 661\nMember Since: 25-Oct-2000\nAbout Me posted on 22-Jun-04 2:48 [edited 0 times] [edit] [delete] \n\n--------------------------------------------------------------------------\n------\nWoh Boy!!! I hear it\\\'s necessary to spray the entire car, is that true?

Any advice?

Audison...

I think I'll take the question lah since KEC is probably wet sanding
something.....

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

AG Super Resin Polish is RM86.90 (last time I bought it- which was about
a year ago) for a 1
litre bottle. I've still got about 2/3 of the bottle left so it doesn't
cost too much.

I think you can get it in 500cc bottles for about RM50 or RM60. Should be
worth a try I
think. AG stuff is not cheap but you do get a pretty darned good shine
for your money- and
I think it's about the cheapest truly non-abrasive polish you can buy. I
may be wrong
though.

Cheers

Hi Guys, sorry for being MIA for a while. Have been down with flu for the
whole week.

Anyway, back in action......

Okie, Audison - I've got a bottle of AG's super resin polish left that I
don't use anymore. Not to say that it isn't good but I've migrated over
to MG's Pro series already. If you wanna try it, pls come over and get
it.

Someone else was asking about Rain Dance Wax - I have some for tests.

Anyway, tonight confirmed wet-sanding my car again. Call me at 019-
2886736 if you guys are coming over.

Wet-sanding is when you use a fine grit sandpaper + lots of water then
you will sand down the panel that you're working on.

This will remove the following:
1. Light scratches
2. Swirl marks
3. Orange peels
4. Uneven paint surfaces
5. Oxidization

If you wanna see how it is done, call me.

Actually that's a good question. For the amount of the stuff I use I've
got no idea where to
buy it in KL. I only pick it up when I balik kampung to Penang and then I
buy it from One-
Stop in Penang..... but I really got no idea where to get it in KL/PJ.

Maybe you can go for Meguair's stuff- easily obtained from Ace Hardware-
at least the
consumer range is and it's every bit as good as AutoGlym. For the prime
stuff look to KEC
for help.

Good luck

condition is very much better than showroom cars....

Just got back from MG's car detailing clinic at a car showroom. The demo

It is a sad sad day.............

Oldaudi, sorry - was reading too fast & had thought that you had rust
stains as opposed to the rims rusting.

The person who advised you to use AUTOSOL is correct. However it will
depend on the rim's finishing. From the AUTOSOL range, you could use
either the Metal Polish, Stainless Steel Polish or Marine Shine.

If the rim's clear coat has peeled off, then I'd suggest that you send to
Hup Soon to have it refurbished.

Guys, found this on an international detailing site. It is the comparison
of 12 layers of Zaino vs. 1 layer of MG's Tech Wax.

Picture will not be available till the photo admin clear's it. Do check

Looking at the photo, the left hand side of bonet with 12 layers of Zaino
was full of circular "lines" under sunlight...are those swirls marks? I

If the rim's clear coat has peeled off, then I'd suggest that you send to
Hup Soon to have it refurbished.

hi there,

I just got my 1st set of AG consist of 325ml car shampoo & cond + super
resin polish for RM61 at jusco yesterday. Thinking of buying the Xtra
gloss too but find it bit expensive RM68 for 325ml
My questions are...1)did AG have a wax product or the Xtra gloss act as a
wax for AG product..I was thinking to buy MG Nxt Tech for waxing.
2) What cloth do you guys use for polising..? Most off the shelves cloth
i found only suitable for buffing purpose only.
Thanks

Dude....

The Extra Gloss Protection is the AG wax equivalent- it's a wax/polymer
sealant type thing-
good stuff and not at all expensive. I only need it 4 times a year- if
you only got 1 car the
bottle will last you quite a few years- mine is already more than 2 years
old and still going
strong.

KEC willl say different of course- that you got to chuck it after a
couple of years- but he
don't agree with me on many things when it comes to what sort of stuff to
use.

Of course his car looks very different from mine too lah- I dare not park
my car next to his.

Hehehe

EGP is wax equivalent. But i find it rather hard to apply.
It is like water and we only have to put a little on a cloth and spread
it
evently on the car. It is clear in color(n watery) which also makes it
difficult to spread it evently.

Wax is easier to apply because its kinda oily.

How do u guys apply the EGP? I still have half bottle of EGP left...
and what cloth to use to apply n buff of the EGP?

Thanks for your info. You clear my shade already..
Yeah..by the way, how you apply the watery EGP evenly throughout the
surface.? and if i still insist on using the nxt tech was (MG) anyone
experienced the incompatible btw AG & MG.? Reason being I read from an
article saying that you better stick to one brand for a better result.

Hi garycct.....

AG shampoo conditioner is flourescent green in colour and yeah it's
watery. Just a little
thicker than water. But that's the consumer stuff. AG has a special range
that is available
ONLY to its car detailing outlets and yeah- the performance of those
products is much
better than the commercially available stuff.

Maybe that's what you got. Bluish green doesn't sound like the stuff I
got. Heck dude... give
it a go. Now that you know how to use SRP and EGP, go right ahead man.
And tell us all how
it went.

Bonne Chance

Hi DIRAVi,

I don't really know how to describe the colour actually! Yes, it does
look like fluorescent green but bit blueish lah...i can't compare as i
don't have a bottle of retail range to compare...maybe i'll leave some
until i get one when the stock is available to see whether got any
difference! But, it's watery and slightly thicker than water...

Yes, the 500 ml i got in mineral water bottle was actually from
authorised
AG car grooming centre which is also the Tint-Shop franchise...!

I just used it to wash my kancil just now...as expected, much much lesser
bubbles than the common car shampoo! I don't know if i had put in too
little amount of the shampoo, i just put about 3/4 full of the 500 ml
mineral water cap! too little i guess? But, the taukeh did tell me it's
very concentrated!

However, as my kancil was previously applied with PermaGlass and washed
with PermaGlass Wash & Shine, so i can't really see the result...but i
can
see that it does make the car bit more shiny after that...washing off
dirt
also no problem!

I need to wash it on my aero next week to see the result, as it's been
applied with SRP & EGP...but, overall, satisfied! Will wait for the new
packing to come. It's not easy to get AG here, so far i only found it in
this shop!

Will update more after i try on my kenari next week...thanks DIRAVI.

Hi fishbone....

I think all your questions have been covered in the first couple of pages
in this thread. Go
check it out and if you still got any questions post em here lah.....

As for polyglaze i think there is a "Polymer Sealant" thread one page 2
or 3 of this Forum to
see the difference between polymer sealants (which includes polyglaze)
and traditional
waxes.

Cheers... and keep the car shiningow. I\'èjX•X•Member Since: 19-Dec-2003

Do check
back from time to time.

KEC,

Looking at the photo, the left hand side of bonet with 12 layers of Zaino
was full of circular "lines" under sunlight...are those swirls marks? I
get lots of similar things this on my red aeow. I\'i<oldaudi

Dude.... I dunno anything about autoglass lah. The thing is that usually
a cutter is an
extremely abrasive polish- almost a cutting compound. I think what you
got there
describing itself as "cut and polish" is basically a cutter with a bit of
polish mixed in.

The AG equivalent is called Paint Renovator and how all cutters work is
alike a very very very
fine sandpaper to remove (i.e. "cut") away a thin layer of paint or
lacquer. It's used to remove
the top layer of (hopefully) dull oxidised paint/lacquer. That's why they
say it's for cars 3
years or older although a properly maintained (i.e. regularly washed
polished and waxed
surface and kept out of the sun as much as possible) can last at least 6
years if not more.

New cars and new paintjobs do not need this- they don't have oxidation
and so the
emphasis is to maintain as much of the paint as possible and so a cutter
is the worst
possible thing you can do to it.

You know the signs for oxidised paint- water soaks into it- i.e. after
you wash and wipe dry
you can still see water mark, polishing works only for a few days and the
paint is generally
very dull- no gleam at all. If your car isn't showing these symptoms you
DO NOT need a
cutter.

"Wash and wax" products are shampoos with a lil bitty wax mixed in- some
are pretty good
and some are downright awful.

Polishes function to deep clean the paint and maybe lay down a lil layer
of wax- waxes are
well... wax- oils which shine the car up for you.

As for recommended products... well dude..... that's been more than
adequately covered
further up this thread..... page 1 and 2. AG and MG for me. KEC uses 3M
wax and it's good
stuff but beyond that, sorry man.

Cheers
