Dear Honda Malaysia,

On 10th Dec 2013 I 'sealed' an agreement of purchasing/booking Honda City 1.5 ivtec E model+(metallic steel colour)
at JM Motor venture Sdn Bhd, Bukit Mertajam, Penang. After paying RM500 as booking fee,
I was told that the car will arrive in a month time. My loan was approved in less than 2 weeks time,
however I was told the colour that I want hasn't arrived yet after I called to' check in' with the sales person.
So when I called last Saturday, 18th jan 2014, the sales person tried to coax my husband n I to settle for a different colour,
mind u the very colour we said we don' want as NOW he is not sure when our colour will arrive n somewhat
'blame' Honda Malaysia for the failure of giving them a specific timeline.
I refuse to believe this as Honda is not a backyard company instead it is one of the biggest companies in Malaysia.
Furthermore I pretty much would want to believe that your tag line " At Honda we aim to turn dreams into reality'
isn't just a tagline but your ultimate goal...what is more upsetting is when the MANAGER told my husband he can't do anything
but to return our deposit...after having had to wait for more than a month n sold our old car(now renting a relative car)
we are now to 'SCOUT' for another car?I hope Honda Malaysia could 'SOLVE' our problem and advice us accordingly.
.n we are still WAITING n hopefully the waiting period won't be too long...

Unfortunately, this is a common sale technique among car sales people, not just for Honda but for other cars as well. A customer may come in with a very strong preference of a color, say, black.

The customer may say, "My car must be black; otherwise I don't want to buy your car."

The sales person already knows that black cars have all been sold out, and the new batch may take some weeks to months to arrive. But instead, the sales person will say, "Got, got."

The idea is to make the sale, then break the news later to the customer that the last black car was just sold out. Customers are usually already all excited having just bought a car and cannot wait for the new car to arrive, so they will usually settle for another car color.

This technique was revealed to me by a friend who is a former car sales person for a luxury car brand. smile_blackeye.gif

Standard tactic by SA.

My previous Proton, I paid deposit at EON (at that time), got the official branch receipt. Promise sky, earth, heaven (no hell).
After wait 1 week, I ask salesman for status, he gives me run-around.
I email my official receipt number EON HQ. They say not in system and will help me investigate.
SA call me and say car is ready in less than a week, pending plate/insurance.

You are lucky. Most of the time they will say that color very popular bot to wait, or ask you take another color.... smile_blackeye.gif

That really depend on one's luck when getting the right salesman to do the job.

So there is no hope to ensure colour preference?
