They lost 2 sources of bog income if they open the automotive market.
1) No more income from national cars.
2) No more big money from imported cars.

The NAP is merely an instrument of corruption and control.
As long as APs remain the luxury of a certain type of people, you know NOTHING good is going to materialize
out of any NAP, and there'll be no significant beneficial changes.
Its just a politically-abused tool to manipulate the automotive market.

here is mine thought about the car industrial:
before nap policy announce, the EEV new car already down around 5%, after the nap, 2nd hand car will dropping their price.
you may not agreed with me, but currently if you sale your car, you will know what i meant.
Car price definitely down.

Export of car industry in Thailand is x10 of Msia, all because of NAP. People earning tens of billions focusing on downstream spare parts industry alone while we losing tens of billions try to build a failed product that cannot export and cant even build own engine.
Trying to protect the shrinking Potong in the expense of the nation. All policies drafted to protect incompetent product in expense of the entire nation. Crap
Wake up, say no to NAP ....
