Dear ALL,
I am currently looking at a 2006, S60 2.0T Volvo with mileage of around 116k for about RM60k.
However, I have not driven a Conti car, but would like Conti car very much.
I wish to get some advice from brothers out there on this car as I understand that it would cost very high for maintenance and I am worried of the cost.
With the above, it looks like I have to spend on the following:
- maybe change of timing belts
- change of alternator,
- change of others (don't know)
Could brothers out there advice how much would these parts costs?
Appreciate your advice.
Thank you.
Max

2006 S60 are good car as it's facelifted model of the 1st batch s60 (2001-2003) that many software and hardware been
upgraded. but rm60K of 2006 2.0t are abit on the high side as you can get the same price of rm60K for 2006 T5 model...
ok, back to your question...
- Timing belt change.. that depend on what you intent to change ..timing belt set a lot is cheap, around rm1xxx, but if you
add in water pump, tensional pulley, plus others parts that not related to "timing belt set " but need to change then your bill
can go rocket high....
- Alternator , why need to change ? brand new one for 120W unit are around rm12xx.. if really need to change BUT cost
constrict then can consider those "halfcut" unit that normally 1/3 of the cost.
- others ?? what is others then you need to find out by your self.
my 2cents advise... go look see look see around and if found unit that your like it with reasonable price then ask seller
permission to performance the "pre-sell" inspection by those Volvo specialist ( it can be from authorized dealer - federal auto,
or those out side Volvo specialist workshop ) to performance checking on - engine, gearbox, suspension, under carriage,
electronic and body parts that normally cost you a bill of dinner.

Hi Max,
a) Timing belt, tensioner & pulley (3 items) - ori volvo at RM620.00 parts only (labour depending on your mechanic)
Alternator - ori volvo from FA/CM : should be about Rm2.5k - 2.9k, Bosch RM2k
c) others (just a few) -
i) front absorbers - ori volvo 1k/pc from FA RM620/pc from spareparts dealers, Sach RM400/pc
ii) rear abs - ori volvo RM500 from spareparts dealers, Sach RM300 from dealers
iii) ATF - ori volvo RM270/4 litre from dealers
iv) cabin/aircond filter with activated carbon - ori volvo RM210 from dealers
v) brake pads
- front ori volvo RM310/set from dealers , TRW RM120/set
- rear pads - ori volvo RM275/set from dealer, I am using Bosch RM75/set (phee ka lau sai man !, pheng leng cheng!)
Most say 2001 are lousy. Some (owners here & in Facebook vocm) say models from 2002 onwards are good. Mine is 2003 experience 2.0T. T5 is different as well
Check the car maintenance with FedAuto/Clear Marque or the authorised dealer nearest to you. Notice the mileage on the timing belt replacement sticker (aluminium foil on a box next to engine, with pic of timing belt). As such, buyer beware
Regards
Kenny
