Anyone interested in getting BMW 118i sport series too ? I am in the midst of thinking to get this car..
but seems the price is quite high for me.. Around RM190k. How much salary do I need to have in order to own this car ?
I am single man with only house and car loan for about RM 4k per month. Salary per month is RM 7.5k.
Here's the reason why I wanna get this car..
BMW 118i Sport Performance: Peak power of 170hp at 4,800rpm from same 1.6-litre engine; peak torque of 250Nm at 1,500rpm-4,500rpm
(Top speed = 222kph; 0-100kph = 7.2 seconds; same fuel consumption and emissions as 116i)

Rule of thumb for financing is that your installment payment stays under one-third of your monthly nett salary. Consideration also into your other commitments eg housing loan, outstanding credit card(s) etc. An alternative is to consider financing through BMW Credit. Here's the package they are currently having for the 118i

actually i think ur salary is consider as high d lo and is sufficient to own a new BWM 118i sport series la. if you add other house expenses then might be a bit hard however it is still possible. remember, the maintenance fee for this vehicle is very high and the car value depreciate very fast ler. the second value is very low. well, for me, i won't go for such luxury car unless got really a lot of extra money. i would rather invest in property la hehe

First, consider your net salary, not the gross salary.

Second, my salary is 20% higher than you but I do not think that I can afford this car. Even though I have a family but my wife salary is also higher than you, therefore, my house hold salary is relative high as well.

Third, afford for monthly installation and routine service are different issue if there is breakdown for non warranty part. A simple rubber strip at the rear bumper of old 3 series already costs you RM3k. It is 40% of your monthly gross salary!

Think twice, third, 4th, 5th.....

Citibank is giving away BMW118i... which CC is giving away even more luxury prices?

Which one you should choose depends largely on whether you’re a private buyer or a company car driver. The sub-120g/km CO2 emissions of the 118d qualify it for low Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax rates, but the star of the show for low running costs is the 99g/km 116d Efficient Dynamics model. Meanwhile, the lower list price of the 116i makes it the sensible choice for private buyers who don’t do a silly amount of miles.
