Nowadays are machined sprayed so paintwork are about the same. Seen many on different brands of cars. More over the paint are not very thin, save cost.... smile_blackeye.gif

Which car (aside luxury) have best paint ?

IMO and from my experience, for Jap cars (non luxury models), Hondas and Mitsubishis have a much higher gloss level compared to other Jap makes. At least, these cars have a much higher degree of "clarity" vs the blurish look on Fiestas and Hybrid Hondas.

The worst is Nissan's OEM paint finish. The current XTrail is the worst.

And I'm still surprised there're so many single stage OEM paints out there!! Red Jazz and CRZ, White Vios.... Never liked to detail em. Somehow paint protection products which gives a sleek effect on Clears doesn't show on Solids. And I believe is due to the pore size of the paint.

Finish is good, but heard that the Honda City paint, especially the clear coat is very thin, can confirm on that?

No, i don't have an Ultra Sonic one. But still can use as a general guideline. let's say if you measure an OEM paintwork with 100 microns vs another OEM paintwork which has been used a while and now have 70 microns? Which would you dare to compound?

Generally, with the PTG I have and cars that I've measured, for OEM Clears:

100 microns, safe to compound
80 - 70 microns, becareful and avoid compounding if possible
60 - 50 and below, chances are the Clears a gonner!

That is the problem if send to those car wash detailer for polishing. I have seen many with G3 and they want fast job so I would how many microns gone each time go there.... smile_shock.gif

240Z too high cc and difficult to drive.... smile_big.gif

Hard to say also actually, product is one thing and technique is another. If they press kao kao and RB speed goes very fast then the CC will run out fast. But I think most of them skim through the surface, and hence chances are only removing little CC.

It is subjective but yes G3 is a very aggressive compound and the standard out there can vary a lot. But generally if any of you go to a detailing shop today and all you see is one thick yellow foam (shape of a mushroom) attached to a machine and it smells all solventy. Think twice to get your car polished there.
