Specwise, forte should be better powered and have 6 airbags vs. Elantra 2. Whilst Elantra have power seat & sunroof
So need some views:
1) Power
2) Handling
For 1) & 2).....as I have not driven forte 2.0
3) Comfort, suspensin & noise
4) mantainance / reliability
5) popularity i.e resale value....elantra quite new but forte seen around
Thanks in advance

Due to pricing, Elantra 1.6 is sold close to Forte 2.0, it is not direct match by right. If you compared using price:
1) Power - the Forte 2.0 would win technically, having 194Nm of torque vs Elantra 1.6 at 157Nm. In terms of power and acceleration, Forte 2.0 at 156ps 0-100km/h in 9.8s vs Elantra 130ps 0-100km/h in 11.5s
2) Handling - should be similar, Forte is heavier at 1300kg should be more stable but Elantra aerodynamic better and sits lower at 1435mm compared to Forte 1460mm. Elantra has stiffer suspension, handling should be better.
>> I have not driven Forte 2.0 too due to no test unit at all. Only tested Kia Koup 2.0L, its engine is quiet smooth, you can test the Koup at the showroom next to Federal highway, if still there.
3) Comfort, suspension & Noise should be Forte, the FL 2011 came with revised suspension more towards comfort. Elantra is built for sporty drive.
4) Maintenance / reliability is good, my old 3yrs old Forte 1.6 has cheaper maintenance than Sentra N16 '08. Spare parts plenty and cheaper than Japanese parts, buy from outside spare part shop, no more warranty 2 years only that time.
5) Forte resale value for 1.6 is slightly better than Nissan. Forte 2.0 resale value brought down by Forte 1.6 brand new, park slightly ahead of Forte 1.6. Elantra has better resale value for both 1.6 and 1.8 due to proper marketing and after sales from SD.
>>>FInal verdict, if you ask me, I take Elantra. But if you wanted power and strength and don't mind losing the first year depreciation (due to poor management dragged down by brand new Forte 1.6), you can go for Forte 2.0. Until now, they still refused to allocate at least 1 Forte 2.0 sedan for test unit.
