Oh man... it's a pity Ford dod not showcase the new Kuga at the Bangkok International Auto Show. It would have been noce to see what was on the offer...since, sometimes, the cars we get are always closer or identical in specs with the Thai market..
Pity!

The Malaysia and Singapore market occupies a unique position within Ford's hierarchy. We are not parked under the ASEAN market together with Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines, which gives us access to a wider portfolio of models such as the Mondeo, S-Max, and Focus ST.
It is possible that the Kuga will not make it to Thailand, hence its absence at Bangkok.

That's interesting. In that case, any idea which market that our local Ford would be most similar too? Then we will be able to roughly gauge what other models to expect by comparing

Been looking at their new improved Everest with Ecoboost since last year and always wondered if it will reach our shores.

I would say Australia and Singapore, minus the Falcon of course.

You may have a point there bro. I think the Kuga will be coming this way soon cos there's already an ad posted up by some salesman in one of the local sites.
In any case, folks in Thailand maybe getting the Ford EcoSport, a compact SUV, which also looks great by the way - like a Fiesta SUV

Damn.. Car brands are on a roll... Ford has got some great models in the pipeline and the Koreans are marching in full force with great designs!

There have been some reported overheating problems with the 1.6 ecoboost engines.
Appears to be fairly serious. Ford has issued recalls
Just google 'ford ecoboost recall' and read about it. Appears to be affecting US models and only 1.6

A petition by US buyers requesting Ford to take back their cars:

They have recalled the Kuga (Escape in US) 4 times already!
I like this SUV and specs, but very concerned about the reliability. Like most Malaysians, I would like to hang on to my ride for up to 10years. Ford resale is one of the lowest, so using it for 5years and selling it is not ideal. Wonder how bad it could get once the warranty runs out after 5years.
Any idea if they would bring in the more reliable 2.0 Ecoboost?

I thought they already handled the last recall (way back to Dec 2012) by implementing a software fix to address potential engine overheating that could result in 1.6l engine fires ?
