There seems to be increasingly more cars catching on fire. Someone told me it is probably because people mod their cars without understanding how to mod properly. Agree or not? I am not sure myself.

Not too sure, but yes many catch fire in accidents and I have seen a few already. Myvi 3 cases, Old Staria, 2 Wira , and a Volvo 940...

Oh my! That is some serious burning!

Way back in 2009. Automobile Association of Malaysia (AAM) and Road Safety Department and the Fire Prevention Council of Malaysia (FIPCOM) recommended that all cars be fitted with fire extinguishers (FE). However, I wonder if putting FE is worth it. You need a big tank to put out the fire; most of the car FE is too small to get the job done. Most people are also not used to using the FE or when they can safely use the FE: they might end up hurting themselves.

If our car is burning, it is almost always a lost cause. Best to get out fast and let the fire dept put it out. Too risky to fight the fire ourselves -- our car has a fuel tank, remember.

The small FE is for you to try extinguish the fire before it gets out of control.... smile_tongue.gif
Anyway, BIG FE where to put in the car?

That's the problem. I like to get a big tank with a pressure meter. I heard this meter is better because it would tell you if the tank has enough pressure, but the question is what is a good size to get? Too big, and my car would look like a fire rescue car!

Smallest I think is the 1kg tank, then 3kg and 5kg. Those in the office staircase I think is 13 or 15kg ones.
I have a few 1kg ones for my house, so now thinking of getting slightly bigger ones then transfer these to the car...
