After tested the CX-5, XV and CR-V, I placed my booking for the CR-V 2.0.
Compared to CX-5 (AWD) due to CR-V is also Real time 4WD, it is not fair to compare with CX-5 2WD and I don't wanna buy 2WD SUV
- CR-V lose out a lot of accessories
- power wise I felt both are equally under powered, I got to step really hard to accelerate from 60kph to 80kph for the CX-5
- gear downshift is not so responsive, upshift is fine
- fuel consumption wise both are about the same (again 2WD CX-5 is out of the picture)
- space wise CR-V wins
- comfort wise CR-V again on the upper hand, CX-5 rear seats are way too vertical. It will be not comfortable for rear passengers to sit the car for long journey traveling.
- CR-V serve as a better family car to bring the family cruising along highway and weekend shopping
Compared to Subaru XV
- CR-V lose out some of the accessories
- power wise Subaru is slightly better but I really don't like the CVT in XV
- huge space lost in the XV
- engine noise extremely loud in XV, the first thing my family said about the car after test drive is the noise
- handling is way better than CR-V, but I don't buy a SUV to rempit drive
- better fuel consumption compared to CR-V
- symmetrical AWD is really awesome!
- due to the car is crossover, the sitting position is not tall and I felt it lost the feel of SUV, it is more to sedan feel (someone may like this but not me as I am driving sedan for years and wanted something different)
Overall I feel the CR-V is more suitable as a family car. The CX-5 came close but the rear seat is a huge disadvantage. XV is more suitable for a driver's car. So making a choice between these few SUVs are mainly based on what you need from the SUV that you want to buy. All these SUVs are good car anyway. CR-V is also the Crown of Resale Value!

I share the same opinion on the CX5, love the car so much.. but is the rear seat that make my HM kill my purchase.. then happen again on Kuga with same reason. so end up got the all rounded averages performance CRV that mainly for family

Heard from SA, the new Honda CRV will be launch on March 2013
If you do lots of night driving and live in a dark area, pls be aware that NO local magazines or local sites will tell you that the HID lights on this vehicle is very poor. Take a brand new Myvi base model and its halogen lights are wayyyy brighter. Thats why i dont believe what the local test reports say. Advertising money is way more important than telling the truth.
