I have replaced the drum pads (4 different brand sets, mech said prob due to pad material), serviced it many times by taking it off and used compressed air blower on them (sc said that due to accumulated brake dust) and lastly by "resurface it using emery stone fitted on power drill (lasts the longest - 1 month +). Now its back again.
I gathered from sc that this time i should have it resurfaced.
HELP!!!!!!!

Need to fit a different drum shoe compound if you're certain it's not the front pads.
No idea what's available in Malaysia, but if anything like here you'll have to go to an
aftermarket brakes specialist as the car maker's SC can only/will only sell 'original' parts.
Harder use of the brakes can often stop the shoes/pads from 'glazing over' and so prevent
the squealing, but I agree it's not something you should have to put-up with these days.
Brake squeal on cars has'nt really been an issue on any brand here since the early 80's,
although many PSA group cars used to suffer badly from it before that time.

My UK-spec. Persona has rear disks, so I can't offer any specific experience of a drum-equipped version.
As it goes, I'm still using it's original P1 'Bosch' pads all round, they've been OK for 47,000 Km - but the
front pads are now getting low and are about to be replaced with a set of 'Pagid' pads I bought recently.
No practical proof that theses will be better, but the few reviews available seem positive and I'm hoping
for a small improvement.

No, mine is a 2009 model and we never got the 2010 Elegance version in UK, (which I think is a minor blessing)
The Persona they sell here new today is the same as the original style with only one Elegance feature fitted - the
bigger door mirrors, (with the indicators blanked-off) - it's the only 'new' part, (which I personaly don't like much.)
Pagid are a well-known brand in Europe, (German) and are used by quite alot of carmakers as original equipment -
Mercedes and Porsche being 'headline' customers - and have many more years in brakes compared to Bosch...

Brake shoe brands? Original Proton, FBK, Trestor,... i think that's about it.

Thanks.
Anyway, i think i am fed up of those drums now. Fed up of keep going back to SC for servicing which does not solve anything actually. Have replaced 3-4 sets of different pads, "resurface" the inner drum contact area with drill fitted with emery stone and did the same with the pad. It worked perfectly for 1 month plus and its back again. I am going to convert the rear drums to disc real soon.
Donor will be from Mitsubishi Lancer (same parts with Waja / Impian).
Stay tuned.
