If you are driving a national car or an older Japanese car then you will find the Ford parts are expensive by comparison. If the car you intend to buy is not well looked after you will have to replace a lot of parts such as engine mountings, brake pads and discs, suspension system. These already cost a few thousand bucks. Engine and air-cond? How many owners already? I can recommend you a good mechanic if you are in the Klang Valley.
Best for you to check the service record, if available. If you are buying from a friend he should have it but if you are buying from a used car dealer then he probably wouldn't have it.

Hi breadman,
Thanks for the reply. Btw, i saw it on the used car ad. i think it is very affordable, and personally, it look nice.
yes, i still haven decide which to buy either peugeot 307 yr 2003 or focus ghia 2005, coz actually as a second car.
Btw, i hv a fren driving yr 2010 focus hatchback, and im impress by the handling, but he bought new around 110k if not mistaken.
So after sitting in his car several times for several journeys, i think the used one should be fine to have since the quality is much better compare to the asian cars..
Anyway, i wanna check whether the maintainance of such cars will be sky high and where can i get the list of sparepart cost

My Fren and I are looking to purchase the F.Focus Sport Hathcback 2.0 yr 2005 to 2008 models.
BTW, we are in Penang and not many used can be found.
We are worry about the parts availibility and a good mechanic. Any comment?
What about the FC compare to Japanese 2.0?

Topdriver and Jimmy,
FC is just like any other 2.0L family car. The low price of a used European car is always attractive. The driveability and roadholding of this model is also very good and is an added incentive to buy one. If budget permits it is always better for you to get the 2008 model instead of the 2005 one.
The population of Ford passenger cars here is small. So spares and service will not be readily available in certain states compared to brands like Honda or Toyota. You can still find spares. There are dealers in KL. Then there is the internet and S'pore.
You will have to weigh the pros and cons yourself to arrive at a decision. The low purchase price is not the only factor to consider.
P/S: Don't buy the 1.8L sedan. It is very rare and you may have problems getting certain parts. The later 2.0L sedan is OK.

One thing you can do is go register at the FoMEC forum. Some of the members may want to sell their well maintained Ford Focus MKII to upgrade.
