As I have put above, my Kempara water thermostat is not opening and therefore the engine is begining to overheat. I am looking for an outlet for a replacement. Am I correct in saying that the item is the same as in a Terios? My car is a first generation model.

Yes, technically, the Terios and the Kembara is the same. Just note that the Kembara/Terios has 2 model (HCEJ and DVVT). You may wish to try Dasuki Motors in Ulu Klang. It's an authorised Perodua SC. Very helpful guys over there.
I find the cost there comparable and have ever since service my Kembara there since after warranty.
