Does anyone kno w about new Vios?

Toyota will unveil the next-generation Corolla Altis sedan next year, and according to Toyota and Scion USA vice president Bill Fay in an interview with WardsAuto, the new Toyota C-segment sedan will be a clear departure from the outgoing model.

According to Fay, the new Toyota Corolla will have an even more dramatic change than the recently-launched Toyota Avalon. The new Avalon is Toyota’s flagship sedan in the USA, one size up from the Camry. There were indeed big changes in the Avalon on both the exterior and interior. The Avalon now has a four door fastback coupe kind of look which reminds us of the Audi A7 from the side view, while the model it replaced looked like a bland giant Camry.

We can expect the new American market Corolla to be used in our region as the Corolla Altis, as that was the way it was for the last few generations. There is stiff competition in the C-segment scene these days in both terms of design as well as value for money in terms of equipment, but in Malaysia the Corolla Altis continues enjoy the promise of reliability and good resale value that the Toyota badge brings. Still, an edgier design wouldn’t hurt at all.

The renderings you see in this story by our resident automotive manipulator Theophilus Chin was inspired by the new Toyota Auris. Could this be the face of the next-generation Corolla Altis?

New Vios will be introduced in the market by next year 2013 (in Asia country) What are the objectives that u wanna know? 381A / 565W is the code in automotive markets

Toyota Vios is also known as Soluna (Thai/singapore/indonesia) and comes all the way from the 1980s as Tercel.

current Vios is known as Belta in Japan, so if there are news about any of these new models.. that can be the new Vios.

The Vios now takes longer to developed (instead of 4 years, it is now 5-6), Toyota wants to ensure they got the design right. the name dugong so famously associated with Vios really hurt them deep inside their heart.

The new Vios with dual VVT is already available since 2010 but they chose to put on hold as the ugly Vios Dugong sales is not threaten by competitors at the moment. The front headlamp design was copied and used in Saga F/L. Common with Toyota, will give us new stuff with on par tech when threatened.

The current Altis is not doing that well in overseas, losing badly to Civic and Koreans, speculated that they should launch the new Altis soon probably in 2013 Q1.

The new Vios with dual VVT designed to counter super FC saving Rio/Accent in US might launch next year. In Europe, the new Yaris dual VVT based on the new Vios dual VVT platform has already on sale last year to counter Rio and Accent. Speculation only, not confirm.

Are referring to the 1.33l? Well, no doubt is economical but then it is a 1.3l, whereby the existing one is 1.5l. The 1.3l may give a bad impression to public view.

actually i'm looking new car and i dun wan to buy current Vios and few month later (2013) new Vios introduced..

Toyota has already developed 1.5L dual VVTi engine intended for the Vios Dugong facelift when rumours of new Forte launch in 2009 surfaced and stiff competition from Honda City. Toyota thought the Koreans would sell the Forte 1.6 at Japanese B-segment price in other part of the world and speculated that it could affect its Vios sales badly. Toyota also expected the new City 08 could affect its Vios badly.

However, the Forte was priced closer to Altis instead in other countries mainly US and China while City is no match against Vios sales, so they held back the plan to give us Vios dual VVTi early. The new Vios based on the new Yaris platform already there and underwent prototype stage. Because the Vios sales is not much affected by competitors so they keep the new platform Vios and dual VVTi engine for future use. The new Almera and soon to arrive Rio and Accent, hope they are good enough to force new Vios 1.5 dual VVTi launch.

At entry cars level, I think gearbox is more important than engine choices. I don't mind even a SOHC 12V VVTi engine, provided it mates to good CVT or >=5-speed gb, which should give excellent FC.

If you are driving in city, the VVT and engine pulling power aka torque are more important than the gearbox. Example for B-segment car kerb weight 1040kg fitted with engine 1.5/1.6L range with VVT having desent pulling power at >140Nm for 1.5L and >150Nmfor 1.6L, the gearbox must have bigger first gear at more than 3.0 ratio in order to get descent city FC + adequate power to move from idle especially when stuck in jam. This is how Vios able to get 12km/L in heavy city traffic.

I prefer conventional gearbox over CVT for reliability and maintenance factor. When comes to highway driving, then having 5 speed or more will be useful to achieve better FC. 4AT gearbox will hardly return over 15km/L unless the car is small A-segment as tested and proven by my group and also automotive consumer groups in actual driving.

If there are articles that mentioned 4AT could easily return 16km/L for 4AT such as the Almera, Latio, Lavina, X-Gear exaggerated claim, that is nothing more than false claim made up by infected journalists as per request from their infectors.

As illustrated recently by the Camry and Hilux, Toyota has no qualms soldiering on with powertrains for two or three model generations so long as consumers continue to accept them.

But once it senses that the competition gains ground, the new powertrains will come very quickly. Think ZR engines in the Corolla 2010 and the new Hilux 2.5 VNT.
