Hello,

I am frustrated with my car ACV40 2.4 Year Manufacture 2007 which I purchase it used few months ago from a used car dealer. The car vibrates when the gear position on D & also occur when the gear position on R. When the gear position on N the vibrate stop. I have wasted lots of time and I spend about RM2500 - RM3000 to change all the parts that workshop recommend me to do, but unfortunately the vibration problem could not solve, I have listed all the things I did stated below:-

1) Change ALL - Original Toyota Engine Mount
2) Service & Clean The Butterfly Flap - Throttle
3) Change Spark Plug
4) Reset ECU By Sending The Car To Toyota Sg Besi
5) Change Original Toyota Gear Oil
6) Change Original Toyota Engine Oil
7) Skim Disc Rotor
8) Adjust back the ekzos position
9) Balancing & alignment

I really need help from sifus, mechanic or anybody out there that have experience & knowledge on this matter. It would be great if you can recommended me a workshop that really expert on toyotas.

Thank you in advance, hope to hear from you guys soon~!

First of all, when the car vibrates in D or R, it means the gearbox is the one vibrating. No vibration in N means that your engine is not the rootcause of the shaking.

Of all the items that you listed as the fixes, only item "5" could have helped.

Since the problem did not resolve itself, the next solution is to check and fix the gearbox of your car. Its not an expensive job, and can be quite easy to fix like changing the gearbox solenoid valve, or can be a mega expensive replacement of the entire gearbox.

Anyway, don't want to give you heartattack,, because gearbox is easy to find. Click this link and you will be able to find stuff.

Anyway, all the best. Let us know how this turns out.

if it's any comfort, i experience this vibration from day 1 when the car was new. sent it to Toyota to troubleshoot, and didnt help much until someone introduced me to Toyota Shah Alam where there's a Japanese based there. Vibration reduced after that but not eliminated. It seems that this model has this inherent problem. It's a shame cos the previous camry feels smoother and quieter. UMW technician wrote in the service report that the vibration is normal due to VVTI !

Looks like a load on the engine because only happens when in gear. Does the idling drop very low when in gear?

mine dropped a fair bit like 150-200rpm. the vibrations will be there when the aircon compressor kicks in.

probably solenoid valve defect or else vacuum hose leaking (need to check all vacuum hose)..not enough vacuum  when a/c kick in

Air con kick in, rpm drops that is why a lot of vibration as the engine under load. Need to check why, maybe like what bro. 2420I mentioned above too....
