Hi Kia forumners, please advise if there is a need to replace auto transmission fluid at 40,000 km service?

Can this be changed at 50k km or higher mileage ? because I have been driving my Rondo quite smoothly without abrupt changes of gears with gentle throttle too.

It is not about gentle driving , it is more towards prolonging lifespan of the gearbox. Some people change it at 20k.

+1

Gearbox is like one of important organ for human body and require high preventive maintenance because if anything happened the cost to rebuild or replace a gearbox is very costly. I would advise owner to follow the 40K interval ATF fluid change religiously.

Bro,
Yes, this is a very important part. Please change your ATF on every 40k KM basis.. Many automatic gear box fail due to lack of AFT fluid maintenance awareness..

Thanks everyone !! This is very assuring of your reply and the very sound reasons given ! My warranty ends 15th September 2012, and happened to be near 40k km. Will change this auto gear fluid then !

Hi,

I usually change mine between 20 ~ 25k kms.. more so especially if you drive in start-stop city traffic. Make sure you are using SPIII ATF. Not others. FYI, the SC used the wrong type during the first change and I have to flush the the gearbox elsewhere!

Hi, Bro
I was advised by the AT specialist to follow the 40K interval ATF fluid change . I had my Rondo do the complete ATF flushing by machine using Hyundai ATF SP III 4L x 2 cost me RM150 & machine flushing charges at RM 50. PM is essential for AT, morever I think the cost of doing it is quite reasonable.

Appreciate that, and I wish the Service Centre does carry this Hyundai ATF SP III 4L.

1. By the way, why x2 ? The SC quoted me 4L only, and did not mention x2.

2. And machine flushing means engine flushing (draining off together with the old Engine Oil) ? Please enlighten me, thanks so much !
