My NA Sonata III needed new shoes, so what better way to transfer my existing GY Asy 2 to her, then I can proceed to test another set of tyres on my VR. As mentioned I wanted to try the GT Radial Champiro HPY model and here it is.

The tyres were fitted at Quicksave and you can get them at only RM308 per pc. (currently). Real money for value for a 215/45R17 size tyre, of course if they perform well....
Unmounted, I tested by hand pressing the sidewall of the GY Asy2, Nexen N8000 and GT Radial HPY.
The sidewall of the Asy2 was soft, real soft for a max performance tyre.
The Nexen N8000 sidewall was somewhere in between, sort of medium feel, can still press but can feel the that it is stiff.
The GT Radial HPY sidewall is real stiff. Can hardly press into them. So, is this a real UHP tyre....
Have 3 large and 1 smaller straight line grooves. Asymmetric in pattern as in most UHP nowadays. Well made and easy to balance.
Fitted last Friday, and only done about 100 plus km on them, and my reference will of course be against my previous GY Asy 2, which seems to be unfair as those are top rated Premium Max performance tyres against a sort of money for value tyres.
The air pressure used was 33/32psi front/rear. The ride was however pretty stiff, even compared to the Asy2 with 34/33psi air pressure. Ran on it for 2 days, then this morning reduce it to 30/29psi. The ride seems pretty good now.
As for it's performance, only manage 2 to 3 hard corners so far, and they seems to handle pretty well. No screeching or any lost traction....No wet test yet, as not raining at my area....
Testing continues......
