There is a bad news and not so bad news.
Bad news is your abs pump oredi kaput. Actually the culprit is the ABS ecu but the ecu came together with the pump. It happend to me many moons ago but I only get it repair last 2 week after the ecu finally disable my gearbox and suspension. The car must be plugged in with a diagnostic computer to check the actual fault. The 2nd hand abs pump cost me RM1200 + RM300 for diagnostic and labour. A potong kereta shop in ampang quote me RM2000 for the abs pump (tis shop really potong kepala). Last time they quote me RM300 for the windscreen washer water tank. Last week I sold the car and live happily ever after.

Few possibilities:

1. ABS sensor connection
2. ABS sensor
3. ABS pump

My experience on C3: The #1 is easy. Use your hand to access the sensor assembly either thru the engine bay or tyre (you need to turn the steering wheel). Then go for a short ride, if the ABS fault bling again during cornering, next is to replace the sensor.
Historically for C5, quite common the rootcause is due to ABS pump.

My 2004 C5 had the same problem ...
At first it was intermittant, then after a few months it became permanent.
Tried adjusting/cleaning the sensor : no effect.
Did a diagnostic check : culprit was was the ABS module.
Price check: brand new RM6k, used RM1.5k (but difficult to find).
No one could repair the module, and resetting the ecu only lasted a week before the lights came on again.

So i did what lingomalingo did - sold the car.

And got me a new C5 rolleyes.gif

If it is really the ABS ECU causing the problem, you can try repairing it . There is one AW forumer here by the nickname kiamtiap who specialises in repairing the electronic module aka ECU. Just search for him in Proton or Volvo section and you shall find his h/p no. His charges is cheaper than a 2nd hand ABS pump I think.

Regards.

C5 is actually a gud car but as it get older the problem also become harder n expensive to take care. At least im happy now that i hv no longer big burden in my head.
Now still searching for the replacement. I am thinking of getting the old 200E or C200. Will see that after raya.
