For those who could smelt outside diesel / exhaust smell, most likely from the aircon fresh air intake that was not fully closed even when you selected recycle air mode at your aircon panel. This is due to the blocking plate is not fully closed, probably because of weaker mechanism. Good for better sound proofing from engine compartment too. Do it via DIY too.

I have fully blocked off the fresh intake inlet hole. See the picture for location

Bro R, is it not dangerous to block of fresh air inlet? This will mean there will be no fresh air circulation in the car? I thought even at closed ventilation, some amount of fresh air are delivered into the car to replenish the stale air in the car?

When the car is new with the fresh air inlet blocking mechanism still working strong, no fresh air should get in when your aircon is set to recycle cabin air. After many years of usages when the mechanism is weaker, it delivered all other smells from outside as well.

With fresh air inlet blocked, air are coming from the lack of sound proof spots, when you open door or window. Thus, this actually increase the tire and road noise.

I bought my Rex new and could still smell outside smell (especially durian smile_tongue.gif ). I have always thought that it was designed that way. I do not know about other countries, but I know that American cars and contis are designed to allow a certain percentage of fresh air into the car through the air inlet even when the recycle mode is chosen as a safety feature inc ase there is carcon monoxide leakages into the cabin.

How can I soar with the eagles when I am forced to work with turkeys ?

Even with aircon fresh air inlet sealed, the car itself is not fully vacuum. There are still air coming in from everywhere, especially from wheel side and under carriage, that's why I could hear more tire and road noise now, but not sure if the fresh air intake percentage is in safety zone in case of carbon monoxide leakage into cabin. Will monitor further to see, worse come to worse just remove the sealing. Bro Rex4585 did sealed his for some time now, no complaint so far.
