Agreed. The 1st step taken was to reduce the selling and making it mor attractive for Focus but Focus is prefacelifted and not same as 308 which is totally new model and attractive pricing.
But i forsee 308 demand will stabalize once supply is stock up again. much like the Lancer Gt phenomenom.
I still prefer Focus having 1.8L. Hope Ford could fit the Focus with 1.8L with dual valve timing selling at RM105k or less to challenge Altis more directly. In Malaysia, having smaller cc is more demanding compared to larger engine. Price, Road tax and FC factors. Back then, fuel injection is main attraction. Today, valve timing is main attraction followed by variable air intake manifold and 5-speed Auto. With all these the car could be tuned higher while improving FC and efficiency.
That's y cars today with 2.0L could pull body weighing at 1450kg kerb. Back then, a car with 2.0L must not exceed 1400kg or else it'll be heavy on FC like Cefiro '03 2.0L V6 with a weight of 1470kg without valve timing giving it 52L could reach 350km-400km under heavy city traffic while Camry '03 with VVT-i could get 9Km/L kerb weight 1450kg.

Haha...same happened to Audi jb branch..closed down because of that...sigh! Btw DC18, you are right in some way but Ford Malaysia( as example) has to think about how to reboost its own market seriously..no matter what cost!
Hi lalanuni,
How is the FC of ur Pug? Ur Pug comes with Valve Timing and the torque is very impressive at 200Nm more powerful than Camry 190Nm and Sylphy 191Nm. The 407 that I've tried doesn't come with that at that time selling at RM165k.
Same goes to Mazda 6, the facelift version came with SVT(Sequential Valve Timing) and VIS (Variable Intake System). Mazda 6 '07 FC (100% city) improved from 11L/100km to 9L/100km compared to Mazda 6 '05.

Hi lalanuni,
Thanks for d info. No prob, this is free for all car forum. Could share and tell anything. Conti cars always beat others in terms of handling, back then until now. Can't deny that. Tried the 407 handling b4 and I can say better than most Jap cars I've tried. Same goes to Ford Focus. Only hope that they'll fit it with the new 1.6L engine with dual valve timing

oh... btw, if ford is really serious on getting in the mondeo, they should take a good look on the spare parts price and maintenance cost for the mondeo. from what i see, ford parts, especially for focus and escape has been booming high up and some of them doesn't make sense. i heard that escape headlamp cost more than the 5 series bimmers...
mondeo mk4 have a lot of faces because of the front grill... it does make a lot of different in the looks. just don't get the boring one. :-)

Fiesta is coming? Great if it's true. Ford is rebadging Ford Verve as Fiesta and there'll be sedan version. Mail Motor mentioned that it'll be launched in China by 2010. Hope they'll launch earlier and bring it here selling at RM80k range for the Sedan version. I'll have more choice to choose from. Good thing about Ford Verve/Fiesta is that it comes with dual valve timing and very fuel efficient winning some award in Europe.

Lots of trusted sources have been giving dates on when the Mondeo is due to arrive. These dates have progressively been pushed back and back to the point that I don't bother any more. It has almost been 2 years since news surfaced that the Mondeo would be reaching our shores.
Ditto for the S-Max.
Now the Fiesta? How exciting!!!
By the time the cars arrive, it would be too late.
I even have an email from Ford's head of sales giving a tentative date for the S-Max to arrive end-2008.
