10k km for oil filter should not be a problem unless your engine is dirty. If dirty, then even your oil OCI should be earlier.
I used to do 10k km or 6 months whichever comes first, but have brought it down to 3 months or 5k km for my turbo.... smile_tongue.gif

Long time not joint this forum...thought AW has deactivate my password!!

If less travel say 2000km per year, what is recommended OCI ?

Most Malaysian car manufacturer states 5000km or 3 months, whichever is earlier. In your case, every 3 months regardless of km.

Depends what oil you use: mineral/semi/full syn

If follow textbook (read: profit for car service & oil company), then change every 3 months or 5k/10/15k km, whichever comes first, depending on car model/type (read the manual).

If follow me, I'll change in this way:
Mineral - once every 6-9 months.
Semi - once every 9-12 months.
Full - once every 12 months.

My old car clocks about 7-8k km every year on average. I switch to mineral (less smooth), and change about every 7-8 months. No problem for >5 years doing it this way (the car is much older than 5 yrs)

BTW, this is for outside warranty. If within warranty, just follow textbook.

Manufacturer suggested to change oil every 5KM per OCI has valid reason.

Remember - This frequent service will bring them revenue in order to maintain their 4-5 Million Dollar 3S centres. Almost oil supplier to them using lower spec oil but owner who is obsessed with warranty be prepared to pay high premium for each service.

For owner who does <5,000km per annum is suggested to change oil every 6 months. It is not worth the saving in the long run.
