Hi,

My 1995 FORD Lynx TX3 is giving me some problem in the circuit board.
Replacing a new one will cost a fortune. I actually got a 2nd hand one
which cost me RM 2,500-00 but after a while it begin to give problem again.

So, I decided to get a 1998 Japan imported 1/2 cut Mazda Lantis 2.0

My question is, can it fit? I do not want them to 'cut and paste' which
will have problem with the JPJ later.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for the responds.

I went over to see the Mazda Lantis engine set and the one on the Ford
Lynx. And the foreman said that there might be a little problem cos the
engine compartment seems to be smaller in the Ford cos of the short bonet.

The radiator set for the Lantis is longer by a few inches. I am wondering
if the dashboard will fit as well?

I am getting the transplant done at a workshop in Bandar Puchong Jaya. I am
still waiting for them to confirm whether it can be done or not.

Have any of your guys got this done this before? It would be great if the
whole dashboard can go in cos it have all the meters for the Automatic
gears where else my Ford is a manual.

I really love this Lynx and no intention of selling it off eventhough it is
over 13 years old now.

Cheers!

Hi,

My car jerks badly as I accelerate. It loses power when I goes uphill on a
higher gear. But on stationary, there is no problem or sound of 'back-kick'
when I ramp on the pedal. It sound strong and healthy when it is not moving.

The mechanic said that it is the problem with the circuit box. I got one
from Penang and fit it in. It seems to solve the problem. But after a few
months, the problem came back.

And cos of it's age, the air-condition is not working well. The
air-condition will work only at a certain speed or rpm.

And the radiator seems to be leaking too.....

I got a 1999 Japan imported Mazda Lantis 2.0 1/2 cut for RM 3,500 plus. I
thought it will be a better idea to do a complete transplant rather than
repairing each problem.

The seller said it is no problem fitting them in. But when the part came,
it looks so different. The Lantis have a much longer bonet to contain those
engine and other parts. My Ford Lynx TX3's bonet must be at least 4 inches
shorter than the Lantis.

The Lantis radiator is also a few inches longer than the Ford's. Visually,
it looks 'impossible' to fit everything from the Lantis into the Ford. But
there are you guys that said it is not a problem !

I will go and see my foremen and ask him to confirm whether it can be done
or not.

Cheers!

Hi

My foreman called me this afternoon saying that the 'surgeon' went over his
place to look at the car and said that it can be done.... They will be
arranging to tow the parts and drive the Ford over to his place soon.

Hopefully it will be a job well done.

More questions...

1) Can the Lantis dashboard go into the Ford too?

2) The Lantis V6 engine comes with a wheel ring for a 5 holes rims where
else my Ford only have 4 holes. This means that I will also have to look
for a set of 5 holes rims. Any idea where I can get them cheap and good?
Best it they comes with a decent set of tires as well.

3) Yoga, I called Rusdi. He said that the transplant can be done. But he is
too busy to do it these days. Asked me to talk to him at his place in Bukit
Kemuning. Thanks for the introduction.

Cheers!

Hi,

I had been advice by someone who had himself converted his FORD TX3 of the
same year and model with a Lantis V6 engine that it will be very
troublesome when I need to do future maintainence like changing the timing
belts etc... that they need to open or take out the whole engine each time
they want to do that.

Is this true?

He had also advice me to look for a 1.8cc engine which will be more
compatible. Anybody know which models will be most suitable?

Thanks
