a real RS would have a manual tranny but sadly ford malaysia think
otherwise. did you see the engine bay? the cat-converter is so close to
the exhaust headers, i have a feeling it will severly choke the engine -
affect performance.
would appreciate your feedback after you test drive it.

yes i did look into the engine bay, and no i didnt notice what you said..
becaus im not very knowledgeable in the mechanics of the car.. probably
some other more knowledgeable forummers can verify what u said..
i will certainly post my review after i test drive it.. but then again..
im not an expert .. so what i feel after driving it may not be the rite
feeling.. or a proper assesment..

like to 'revive' the TX3 image that they had in the early 90s. IMHO, I
think Ford does have a clue on why the TX3 was partially successful. I for
one, nearly bought a TX3 in 1994 and the reason behind the success is IMHO
an affordable, reasonably powerful, 2 door coupe and an in thing (image)
with those below 30. The Lynx RS is firstly not affordable (if I can
afford RM120K, I will buy the Civic VTEC at RM110K), powerful (yes,
especially the torque figures), not a 2 door and the image is 'not right'.
Why the Civic? Well, firstly I get a HONDA at RM110K which is about
10-15% less powerful, a 4 door anyway, probably better residual value and
with the extra RM10K and future earnings, there are many many many many
options to beef up the Civic.
However, I am not a Honda person and would probably buy something else
that's cheaper

(single hot-blooded boyracers), so I think they are looking more at the
matured boyracers who previously may have been young TX3 boyracers of the
90s. The lack of manual transmission is one indication. It's more like a
brand loyalty test, if previous TX3 users want to upgrade and are saddled
with family commitments, the RS could be a good compromise option. The
auto gears are meant for the owners' Mrs, who like my Mrs can only drive
auto.
Affordability is a relative, those who could afford TX3 then should be
able to afford RS now. A Ford owner will not be interested in a Civic and
vice-versa, the demographics are too different.
As for residual value, Ford car owners in M'sia don't care about that,
they care about other things such as driving experience. Which should be
a compelling reason enough for Ford to provide manual option for me to
upgrade ... ...

much better now. very neat bodykits and the seats are comfy too. the
first 20 units with recaro seats are gonna be sweet.
good job Ford!

The video that is playing on the Big Screen in the Ford booth, shows both
Ford RS in drifting scenes, and let me assure you that both the cars were
AUTOMATIC, STOCK STANDARD, and definately had the power to KEEP THE DRIFT
IN MOTION and come out of it in total POETRY in MOTION..
At the end of the video you will see the credits and the RS is totally
awesome. The car handles simply perfectly. You can get a copy of the VCD
from the registration counter, not sure if its still available ( out of
stock by now? ) But do give a try....ask for one...
The car is just great! so when are we going for a convoy!...or
drifting!...
