hi mghong,

the problem statement you give here is quite general and the high FC could be contributed by different factors.
as stated by other forumers, the electronic board i think nothing to do with your high FC la...

make sure you service your car regularly, check your tyres etc.

on your last question, if you really want to save money, sticking to your wira is still the better way to go...i guess many shops in malaysia can easily fix a wira car.... so just make sure you find a good mechanic and fixing your current car condition will not cost a bomb...and it should work fine...

my father's iswara...i guess is almost 18 or 19 years old now...and it is still running very well when properly maintained...

there's no reason why your wira cannot last another 9 years as well...

For RM90 @RM1.90 per litre = 47L = 450km , I think that is within average, maybe slightly high only.

Yours is auto or manual ?

Mine is manual RM75 can get 450km

For low maintenance cost, you can't go wrong with Wira.
For new cars, there is installment. The service & maintenance are not cheap also, even for a vios/city.

The only downside is the comfort of the old car. But that can be fixed by replace with new shocks & absorber.
Then change the rubber lining on door panels.

Some simple calculations:
Old car
= no installment
= average, let's put RM200/month for repair. That's rm2,400 per year. If not enough, you change to RM300/month avg.
= Petrol, let's say it consume 20% more. Yours is RM90/week = RM360. Let's round up to RM400 x 20% = extra RM80 (which is quite a lot, seriously. Unless you drive Prius)
Total /mth = 200 + 400 + 80
= RM680 average expenses per month.

New car
= installment at least RM800/mth
= maintenance is less for 1st year, but average out, let's say RM100/month (RM1,200 per year).
= Petrol, consume less. From the above, RM400
Total /mth = 800 + 100 + 400
= RM1,300 average per month.

The above takes an estimate calculation on general expenses, all else being equal.
The question is, are you willing to pay extra RM600 average per month to get a new car ?

Buying a new car will cost you at least RM45K and even a 2nd hand car will not be less than RM25K if you want something reliable and comfortable for your daily commute.

If you want to refurbish your existing car, I believe it will cost you no more than RM5K depending on how bad it is. Wira's replacement parts are considered inexpensive.

Therefore, if you're still in love with the car apart from some mechanical wear & tear, just have it repaired and keep driving with peace of mind without having to bury yourself in another 7 year debt.

Just my 2 cents... smile_wink.gif

it's not a 2 cents advise.
it's priceless...
